´Tis the season! Well for weddings, the races, chic summer soirees, garden parties, that is… And the never ending dilemma of ´What to Wear` continues… Does anyone else feel that whenever it comes to events, they have “nothing” to wear from their wardrobe? Oh, and of course, ANY excuse to buy a new dress, right?
There are of course some sartorial rules, especially when it comes to more formal events such as attending a wedding, a cocktail party, the races, and so on. For me personally, it´s all about keeping the length a bit longer, and if you do opt for something short; keep it chic with either a high neck, sleeves or a blazer on top. Then there are the colours… Obviously not wearing anything white and lacy to a wedding, and anything too bright and loud that will steal the limelight away from the bride. Not a short list then!
See below for the ones I would LOVE in my wardrobe right now…
Even though its summer, I personally still love wearing black and navy, which is chic all year around. This particular dress from Self Portrait, with the stunning lace top, and chic midi length skirt, is divine.
You just can´t go wrong with a maxi dress, and this cobalt blue silk dress from Karen Millen, is super striking, yet classic and elegant.
Another winning maxi dress, in a more softer, bohemian version. I adore the cream and navy colour combination on this floral style from ASOS – with the frilly off-the-shoulder details…
This pastel blue & nude lace dress from REISS will no doubt be a sell-out this season; it´s pretty much perfection when it comes to nailing all those events – with the classy knee-length, high neck and demure lace.
I mean… Do I need to say any more? This silky chiffon lace dream from Needle & Thread is just SO pretty. I love the loose and flowy fit – which will work with anything from a pair of bejewelled sandals, to strappy heels.
Another dress from Needle & Thread, and completely different take from the previous boho style (yet equally as dreamy). I love the bejewelled and embroidered details, which takes this simple cut black dress to a different level.
Soft pastels and pink are super popular for summer occasion wear (for good reason). This stunning midi style from L.K.Bennett with a subtle graphic floral print, is a dreamy option.
One word. WOW. Maxi, sparkly, feminine… I need this dress from Needle & Thread in my life.
I adore this black and nude lace dream of a dress from Warehouse, which is a great alternative if you want to keep the colours muted and dark, yet still super feminine with the a-line shape and lace detailing.
Muted elegance at it´s best. The sheer high neck panelling combined with the dusty pink colour and pretty knee length, makes this dress from REISS the ultimate safe bet (in a good way).
So, which one is your favourite?
Love the collection Anneli!
Funnily enough nearly all of them are already on my wishlists.
Cheers,
T.
