I guess you’ve all figured out why it’s been radio silence here on the blog, and if you follow me on Instagram, you would definetly know why… Sam and I welcomed our little baby boy to this world, Rio Ezra Bush, on the 12th October – and we could literally not be more in love. He is just perfect in every shape and form. And although the birthing plan went totally out the window and it took me nearly 50 hours (!) until we finally got to meet our little man, I would still do it all over again in a heartbeat. That instantaneous love, is indescribable.
I now understand why they say that it’s a whole different level of love that you’ll experience – all of which is hard to even grasp until you hold that little precious body that you’ve carried for nearly 10 months in your arms… The overwhelming feeling of suddenly being responsible to love, nurture and raise another human being, is incredibly intense (and slightly terrifying!), yet so powerful and amazing, and after our long journey to even get to this place – we are both feeling incredibly blessed.
They say your life changes forever, and that couldn’t be closer to the truth. Just like that, it’s not all about you any more – all of those trivial matters in life seem pretty insignificant, and nothing will ever really measure up to your role of being a parent…
My little boy, which right now is the spitting image of his Daddy – is just perfect (clearly I am biased). Ever since he came out, he has been so alert and active, with an incredibly intense gaze. I really felt like he was looking at me from the day I first met him… An instant connection.
Why Rio Ezra?
We’ve had a lot of questions about the non-conventional name choice, and if there was any particular reason behind it… And the answer is, not really! Rio (which means River) was the only name we both 100% agreed on, and Ezra (meaning ‘Helper’), was another favourite of ours – and we simply just loved the combination of the two together!
We had a few other back up options, in case he didn’t ‘feel’ like a Rio when we met him, but in the end there was no doubt about it. The name was just perfectly suited for our little man.
I can’t wait to continue sharing more of our my new role as a mother going forward with you all! And although I won’t be posting as frequent as before in the first few months – I have a some exciting content that I’ll be sharing going forward; including my top post-natal beauty essentials, how I have been (slowly) getting back into shape (and what supplements I swear by), my birthing story (which has been requested several times) and the long awaited nursery tour… So stay tuned!
