WEEKLY TOP 5: CITY SPRING BREAKS

WEEKLY TOP 5: CITY SPRING BREAKS

I´m all about a good city break… And although I love living in London, there are so many incredible cities that have really left a mark with me. Here are some of my favourites, and tips on where to stay!

1. BARCELONA

This city holds a special place in my heart, having studied and lived there for 3 years, falling utterly head over heels in the place after a magical summer there in my teens… I love all the different elements to this city; history rich, beach life, amazing food culture and general way of living.

2. VENICE

My recent travel diaries to Venice, says it all really. This place is magical from start to end… Although there´s a lot to take in, the island is relatively small and not too overwhelming (always a good thing if you’re only away for the weekend!). You won´t need a map here, and you can easily just spend your days walking, eating, drinking… What more do you want?

STAY: Ca Maria Adele / Bauer Hotel / Belmond Hotel Cipriani

3. NEW YORK

If there´s anywhere I could swap for London, it would be New York… I´m so excited to be heading out again this Thursday – I haven´t been back since we got engaged there in 2012! Needless to say, it will always be one of our favourites. This coming trip is all about eating; NYC has the most incredible food scene!

STAY: The Bowery / The Standard / The Ludlow

4. PARIS

Another favourite city of mine (see my travel diary here). As my husband is half Parisian, we always go here at least once a year. It´s the dreamiest and most sophisticated city, balanced out with rustic and raw contrast (in a good way). From amazing shopping, sights, walks and food, this place has it all.

STAY: Le Bristol / Hotel Verneuil / L’Hotel

5. STOCKHOLM

Although I was born in Oslo (and it obviously holds a special place in my heart) – Stockholm is one of my favourite Nordic cities. Being so close to Norway, I´ve been there many times with family, friends and with my now hubby (who’s equally as obsessed). It has all the traditional nordic elements that I love with Scandinavia, surrounded by archipalagos on the fjords – yet it´s this metropolitan, bustly and vibrant city that’s ever changing. It has best of both worlds, in my opinion.

    Hi Anneli,

Would it be crazy to visit Stockholm at the end of February?

It´s probably the grottiest month to visit Scandinavia – however, it´s still cozy and there are so many great places to shop, so many nice restaurants. However it might be quite grey, dreary and cold! x
