Wedding Series: Spa

Wedding Series: Spa

Leading up to my wedding (which is less than 4 weeks to go now), I am needless to say a bit nervous, excited and at times, a bit stressed! Although I am enjoying all the planning and can’t wait for the day to arrive – these last few months have been pretty crazy. On top of this, we’ve had some other exciting developments and changes on both a personal and work level – so a lot has been happening to say the least! It was therefore with much joy and excitement (and perfect timing), that I was invited to the stunning Four Seasons Park Lane for a relaxing spa day and luxury treatment.

The sky high hotel is one of those buildings that I have walked and driven past so many times, living in the nearby area – however never actually had the privilege to visit, neither the hotel or their spa; the latter being very conveniently located on the entire top floor of the hotel with panorama views across London, the beautiful Hyde Park and Knightsbridge.

Needless to say the spa entrance and reception is stunning and pretty impressive – yet still homely, with the wood panelling and neutral colours. The views are breathtaking and as soon as I step in, I feel instantly relaxed, being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. After filling in my consultation form and sipping on a fresh apple, pear & ginger juice – I am led into the changing rooms, which were also stunning and well equipped with everything you need from hair spray to curling tongs, as well as luscious hair and skin products from The Organic Pharmacy.

After slipping into my robe and slippers, I stepped into the treatment room areas, where I sampled green tea, nuts and medjool dates (pretty much my favourite things). The treatment I went for was the Detoxifying Seaweed and Eucalyptus body treatment (see full spa menu here) – which is “designed to rid the skin and body of toxins”. Obviously I want to look my very best for the wedding, so this particular treatment sounded right up my street! Not surprisingly, I was not disappointed.

The treatment rooms – also with panoramic views (of course) – were beautiful. I had a lovely therapist, and for the next 80 minutes I was in pure heaven. The treatment started with a head-to-toe full body skin brushing and exfoliation using seaweed, eucalyptus and lemon body scrub, all using products from The Organic Pharmacy. Following this I was cocooned in a warm, mineral-rich seaweed and eucalyptus mud wrap. While I was all wrapped up – I was given a lovely cedar and rose hip scalp massage (by this point, I nearly fell asleep!). After my wrap was removed and I had showered off the mud, my therapist gave me a back, neck and shoulder massage using a detoxifying body oil – it all smelt and felt, insanely fresh and energising. When I was done, I relaxed in the pod with more nuts and green tea, and totally switched off (trust me – this takes a lot for someone like me!).

Not thinking I could be any more contended, I moved into the spa area, which had a sauna (with more views, of course), steam and pool with lots of bubbles (yay!).

I never wanted to leave this place.

By the end of it, I was getting pretty hungry! When I was ready I was lead into their adjacent beautiful dining room (still wearing my robe and slippers – amazing) and served the most delicious Bento Box, filled with various asian dishes, including sashimi, sautéed vegetables, noodles, salads, as well as carrot and apple juice (I was basically in food heaven – the food was exceptional). I spent the remaining afternoon taking in the view.

As you might have gathered by now, my day at the Four Seasons Park Lane was perfect. It was private, calming and one the most unique spa’s I have ever been to in the UK. I love London with all my heart, but sometimes it’s nice with some space from the hectic and fast paced lifestyle. Going to this spa overlooking London in all it’s beautiful glory – yet being from all the noise, was pretty magical (not to mention the added bonus of being totally re-charged in the lead up to the wedding!).

Hi Anneli, I am planning on a birthday surprise for my mum & can’t decide between the spa at Four Seasons & Espa Life at Corinthia, I’ve noticed that you have been to both & just wondering which one you preferred/ recommend? Thanks
