TWO KEY LOOKS FOR SPRING

TWO KEY LOOKS FOR SPRING

red9For me, Spring has officially arrived when the blossoms are out. And especially now with the (much awaited) Spring heatwave – I am having all the new season feels, and I cannot wait to re-invent my wardrobe with lots of fresh new styles and colours (yes, you heard me – colour!). This time last year, I was just over 3 months pregnant, and although I hadn’t started showing by then, I wasn’t really in the mood to start investing in lots of new bits for my wardrobe, as I knew my body was changing week by week. So this year, now that I have finally reclaimed my body back, I am super excited to pick up some fun new styles for the warmer months ahead. And as always, I tend to start with the footwear and accessories…

When it comes to clothing, I am definitely more of a high street girl; but with my accessories (shoes and bags in particular), it’s all about the quality, which subsequently translates into comfort and longevity. Now that I’m a mum, I am more than ever finding myself reaching for simple and uncomplicated outfits; styles which are easy to wear, comfortable and classic. So therefore, adding more luxe accessories to my look, is key to elevate my overall outfits… Needless to say, I am super excited to have teamed up with one of my favourite British heritage brands, Russell & Bromley – where I have chosen a few core styles for the new season – showcasing two of my go-to looks for Spring/Summer…

#1 LOOK: SPORTS LUXE

No surprise that denim is the common denominator in both looks; albeit the outfits are quite different. I’m super at ease with this first look – wearing my favourite distressed vintage denim, with a minimal jumper and jacket – finished off  with some super luxe trainers (I mean, how gorgeous aren’t these with the sparkling bow trim?) and a pop of colour with the leather cross-body weave chain bag. As mentioned, wearing easy ensembles is really important for me at the moment – however, that doesn’t mean that the outfits need to be simple or boring. More than ever now that I’m a mummy, I feel the need to have some colour and excitement with my wardrobe; otherwise I could easily end up wearing sports leggings and t-shirts every day (which I doubt would make me feel very good).

So making effort is key, yet you won’t be seeing me parading with strappy heels and slinky dresses any time soon. But even just upping my game with some fun accessories – such as these statement trainers and bag, is all it really takes to add that extra edge to the outfit.

The key with colourful and edgy accessories, is keeping the rest of the outfit relatively neutral and casual. Normally – had this been a winter look, I would have toned down the rest of the outfit, with some black and darker denim – however, with Spring in the air, I’m all about introducing more of a fresh and clean colour palette – such as light bleached denim, greys and khaki (which I personally feel really works with the pops of colour).

#2 LOOK: CITY CHIC

Again, another key denim look for me – but this time I have teamed it with two of my go-to wardrobe staples: a black blazer and a simple white t-shirt. I have paired this clean city inspired outfit, with (probably) one of my best loafer investments to date, which aren’t just the most comfortable loafers I have yet to have stepped into, but they’re also probably one of the nicest looking pairs I have seen. They’re dainty and slimline, which I personally love, as it really helps balance out the otherwise masculine style – yet they’re super sturdy and comfortable.

This is another look where I have chosen to introduce a pop of colour to an otherwise minimal and clean outfit, and I simply adore the classic hue of red on this loafer, together with the gold snaffle bar trim. A real statement pair of shoes, yet traditional and will no doubt be classics for years (and years) to come.

This outfit is something I would typically wear just about every working day. It’s fail-safe and elegant, and most importantly: it’s an outfit I feel super comfortable and confident in. It’s a look which admittedly might be verging on being slightly un-inspiring, had I not added some colour with the likes of these red statement loafers – but with the simple addition of something with a bit of a wow factor; the overall feel of this ensemble is instantly transformed. Hence why accessories and footwear in general, are always the items I tend to invest in first.
