I talk a lot about wardrobe classics on my blog. The reason being that I am a true believer that if you invest wisely in some core essentials and styles; your day-to-day dressing will become so much easier. These ´wardrobe classics` are not necessarily the most interesting pieces, and more often than not, simple and clean styles – however, they will no doubt form the basis of your look and style you’re going for; be it minimal, casual, edgy or chic. One of my personal go-to iconic buys, is the white shirt. Personally, I don´t think you can ever have enough of this piece; be it the oversized boyfriend shirt, slim fit, long, cropped, wide… It can be worn in so many different ways, hence why it´s such a great investment.
My most recent purchase, and the shirt I just can´t live without? The GANT Diamond G Pinpoint Oxford Shirt. I am sure you might agree, or at least recognize, that the King and Queen of creating that perfect white shirt, is GANT. They’re original shirtmakers since 1949, after all – and with this style in particular (a modern re-make of a classic heritage style); pretty much sums up the perfect shirt and epitome of quality.
I never knew what ´pinpoint` actually meant, but since investing in the GANT shirt, I now know it means it´s been purposely sewn with more stitches per inch to create a thin and delicate hand feel… Who knew?! With a classic button-down collar, for a more feminine look, and a loose and easy fit (I always go up a couple of sizes for that relaxed ´boyfriend fit`) – it will no doubt be the core basis of my wardrobe essentials, for years, and years to come.
…and here are 3 of my favourite go-to looks.
#1 LOOK:
SOPHISTICATED WEEKENDING
The weekend is no doubt one of my favourite sartorial times. Although I cherish my more casual weekends, when I am firmly wearing jeans, trainers and sweaters; I also love nothing more then meeting up with friends for an overdue catch up with a late lunch and a spot of shopping – wearing my go-to skinny leather pants with my oversized white shirt, chic trainers and casual coat. I often head to Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, to one of the many gorgeous eateries there (personal faves are Granger & Co., Farmacy and 202), and who doesn’t love a few hours of retail therapy!?
Showcasing that the white shirt is the ideal choice with this outfit; adding that relaxed and comfortable feel, with the oversized fit – and balancing out the more edgy black skinny leather. I also teamed the outfit with a pair of minimal white leather trainers, a casual wool coat and oversized tote. This is not only an outfit I feel super relaxed in for a catch up with my girls, but also something I feel good in.

#2 LOOK:
PREPPY VS. EDGY
For a more preppy, yet still relatively casual look; I love wearing jumpers or knitwear over my white shirt. Be it a simple grey wool piece, a varsity sweater, or more of a statement piece, with this printed jumper. It definitely makes the look more ´pulled-together`, so I always like to balance it out by throwing a casual coat over my shoulders, some nicely fitted jeans, some modern loafers (perfect for when I´m on-the-go), and some feminine accessories, such as these oversized sunnies and mini-bag.
I never stop having fun with when styling up my white shirt. As there are so many ways of wearing it, for so many different occasions, it´s great to continue playing around with the looks. I personally feel really comfortable in this outfit as well; as it´s the perfect combination of preppy masculinity vs. feminine sophistication – just the way I like it.

#3 LOOK:
OFFICE ELEGANCE
There is no denying it; comfort is nearly always (and I mean always), on the top of my list of priorities when it comes to my outfits. I am a firm believer that you will genuinely look good in anything which you feel 100% comfortable wearing – versus something too tight fitting/too short/too ´fashion`. If you´re happy in your outfit and it makes you look and feel good; this far outweighs any must-have trend pieces you might be wearing. I no longer opt for style over comfort; so the aim is always investing in pieces which offer both. And there is no coincidence that some of these pieces, are often more loose fitted (i.e more flattering) and classic (i.e more longevity).
Hence why this look is probably one of my favourites; with the loose fitted shirt, tucked in some wide legged, cropped jeans and some midi heels, for that added elegance. I love the combination of androgyny – with the loose fitted crisp shirt and the oversized jeans with this outfit, mixed with the classic black feminine accessories – keeping it simple, yet modern and comfortable for work, or play (and in other words, I feel good in it!).
