Long gone are the days when I was living in Australia and Barcelona, and SPF was not really a priority… A far cry from today, when I don’t even leave the house without SPF on my face (even during winter!). I also used to be the biggest sun worshiper, but I now prefer the shade under a big san hat (hello pigmentation and wrinkles), and although I tan really easily, I’ve also picked out some of my go-to maintenance products, to keep that tan nice and topped up all summer long… So check out this post if you: A) Care about your skin and want to protect it, or B) Care about your skin, want to protect it, but not too keen on the sun/sun damage, so want some fake glow instead!
SPF
Vichy Ideal Soleil SPF 30 Fresh Hydrating Milk: A super moisturising face and body SPF, which is non-greasy (which I love), doesn’t leave white marks and really easy to apply all over. It’s also a big bottle, which is great for families/a couple, to last an entire holiday.
Institut Esthederm Adaptasun Body Lotion: This is the perfect sun lotion for someone who tans easily and rarely burns (which is my skin type). It gives a really deep, intensified tan, and it’s super moisturising and lovely to apply.
Institut Esthederm Bronz Repair: This anti-wrinkle tanning cream for the face, helps stimulate a natural, bronzed tan whilst minimising the visible signs of ageing, whilst protecting against those UVA/UVB rays. It helps stimulate cellular regeneration, and always gives me a deep, natural looking glow.
Decléor Aroma Sun Expert Summer Oil SPF30: I’m a big fan of a multi-use beauty product – especially when you’re on holiday! This oil is both for your skin and hair, and with super moisturising Manoi oil, it leaves your skin soft, and your hair nourished. I used this in Ibiza, and my hair especially, looked, and felt so much better from it.
La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF50+ Invisible Nutritive Oil: If you’re after even higher protection with SPF50+, this is an excellent choice. Ideal for sensitive skin, it’s easy to apply with the spray, and although it’s an oil, it doesn’t make your skin feel sticky – leaving your skin nice and soft.
Avène Mineral Fluid SPF50+: I used this for my face on my recent holiday, and I love how light-weight and matt it is. I only ever use SPF50 for my face during holidays when it’s more intense sun, and this one gives great protection and is really smooth (and doesn’t irritate my eyes).
Anne Semonin Oligio Protect Cream SPF30: I use this when I’m back in London on a day-to-day basis as my-go-to SPF/moisturiser, protecting against rays and other environmental stressors, leaving my skin protected, with a nice dewy finish.
TANNING & GLOW ENHANCERS
Institut Esthederm Tan Prolonging Lotion: I’ve been using the every day since Ibiza, and I swear it’s what’s kept my tan going so strong! Milky and soft, I apply it all over my body and face, and so far I have no signs of any peeling or dryness.
Tan-Luxe Sleep Oil Rejuvenating Miracle Tanning Oil: I’ve spoken about this product before, which is basically my number one tanning product. An overnight treatment oil, which rejuvenates, stimulates and hydrates your skin while you sleep, giving a super natural-looking and radiant glow by morning.
Tan-Luxe Wonder Oil: Another amazing product by this brand. Also an oil, which is ultra soothing – with Jojoba, Argan and Raspberry Seed to really nourish the skin. Applied via a mess-free roller-ball, it instantly cools on contact. Heavenly.
Hi Anneli, thanks so much for this great article – it’s so useful. I was just wondering which SPF you used during pregnancy as I know not all are considered safe. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks, Vx

Hi Victoria, glad you enjoyed it! I used La Roche Posay, Vichy and Decleor… Always SPF 50. I am pretty sure they were all safe! Ax
Hi, would also love to hear what sun care products you use on the baby? Struggling to find a nice one that isn’t too gloopy but still offers enough protection. Thanks in advance!
