SUMMER HAIR

SUMMER HAIR

The ombré, ecaille and balayage hair colour techniques have trending for the last few years, particularly during the summer months – giving that lustworthy, beachy summer hair look. What’s the difference between the styles, you ask?

  • Ombré, a huge trend in 2014 – refers to hair that is shaded or graduated in one tone or color. Your hair will gradually go from a darker shade of a color at the roots to a lighter shade of the same color on the ends.
  • Balayage is the French meaning “to sweep” – resulting in the colorist using vertical brush strokes to the front of the hair – creating a more natural, sun kissed look.
  • Ecaille is the latest trend for 2015, and the French term for “tortoise shell”. This look is essentially combining ombre and balayage, using darker and more smooth caramel tones, paired with golden highlights – consider it a much more sophisticated version of the ombré look.

I for one am planning on going lighter for summer – there’s just so many colours and styles I am inspired by! The (big) question is though; how light should I go and what style?

Hey, I am in love with the hair that is in the top right photo… the girl with the side flipped hair and big green scarf. Can you tell me where this photo is from? Thank you so much… kindly…

Hi Megan, I am afraid I am not sure as the pic is taken from Pinterest with no credit!
