ROME ADVENTURES

ROME ADVENTURES

Hello from ROME!

Well, I’m not here at this exact moment (it was this weekend just gone) – nevertheless, something I wanted to share with you! I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled very many places across the world. Ironically, Rome – the city of love, food (Italian is probably my favourite) and immense history – is somewhere I haven’t been! Having just returned from my trip; I know it definitely won’t be my last time.

Why was I in Rome? Well, other than the obvious (it’s probably one of the most beautiful cities in the world) – I  was asked by British footwear brand Moda in Pelle, to explore, capture and discover a European big city (how lucky am I?!). The choice was simple. So off we went to Rome with my camera on hand (and several pairs of shoes), ready for a fun packed weekend. My Roman venture will be documented in Moda in Pelle’s new blog – …it’s all in the detail in the coming month, and here is a little sneak peek to show you guys!

Day 1

First stop upon arrival, coffee and THE most delizioso wholemeal croissant with apricot jam. This was just the beginning of my carb loaded weekend (well worth it by the way). Now, some might say I’m a bit of an organised freak (well, probably all of my friends and family to be fair). Prior to going anywhere on holiday, I can spend hours researching the place; when it comes to the best restaurants (always the top priority), markets, shops, interesting landmarks, areas, local tips, etc. I create a detailed itinerary with all information needed and a breakdown of the day (Rome had 7 pages!). Sounds stressful? Well the thing is, as soon as I arrive on holiday – I always wind down and half of my itinerary tends to go out of the window anyways – so yes, kind of pointless, but nevertheless always useful to have for guidance in a new city.

The first day mainly consisted of just wondering the beautiful streets, taking in the general feel and vibe of the place; it always takes me a day or two to suss a place out. I was wearing my favourite emerald green Effortless loafers, together with my loose fitted silk harem pants and silk top (comfort was key in the heat and a long day ahead – albeit shorts might have been a better idea – Rome was hot!). We had lunch at Pierluigi (above) indulging in mouth-watering food and white wine (note: winding down already!).

So, as mentioned, Rome was hot and after a few hours walking around town, we popped back and got changed to something a bit cooler! I wore my fave denim shorts from Urban Outfitters, silk shirt from Selected Femme (not in stores yet), new sunglasses from Ray-Ban (they didn’t leave my sight all weekend), and not to forget – my gorgeous butter soft leather Felise loafers in navy.

In the afternoon we ventured to Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica cathedral. To say we were both overwhelmed by the sheer space, history and grandeur of the area  – would be a massive understatement. No picture can do it justice really! Simply stunning.

We’re off to dinner, and I wore a leather skirt from Y.A.S (not in stores yet – similar here), denim shirt from GAP (note: pre ironing!) and once again, my beautiful Effortless loafers. We had dinner at L’Enoteca Cul de Sac, indulging in a lot of wine (it happens to have one of Rome’s largest wine cellars) and Italian tapas!

Day 2

We visited many Piazzas, amongst them the food market in Campo De’ Fiori – trotting around in my ultra-comfortable Felise loafers all day. All shoes tend to give me blisters – these ones are probably the first to actually be comfortable throughout a whole day (although – my feet was aching after spending near enough an entire day walking, which by the way, is the best way to discover Rome).

So, what I didn’t know when planning this trip was that one of my best friend Camilla, and her boyfriend, would be there at the same time! First stop upon their arrival went to Enoteca Corsi (a must, recommended by a local) – where we spent hours catching up, eating and drinking (yes, we did this a lot).

After a few hours at lunch, we spent the afternoon around Roman Forum, Colosseum & Palatine Hill. Again – breathtaking and pretty surreal!

Ready for an evening out, wearing Ariella, my fab Moda in Pelle suede black booties with gold studs! The perfect boots for winter, although they look equally chic together with a more summery outfit, as I wore it above on our last night. I wore the boots with my trusted silk top from Zara, leather skirt from French Connection (similar here) and bag from Balenciaga. After venturing through the town, past Fontana di Trevi and the Pantheon – we met the others for dinner at Salumeria Roscioli – eating maybe THE best mozzarella, ever.

Day 3

Last day! It was slightly overcast, so I opted for my silk pants, blouse and my Effortless loafers to spend a day of just wondering around! The first few days we did the standard touristic sights, so today we wanted to get away from the crowds (which was the only downside to Rome) – so we ventured to the West Bank district of Trastevere, which is an amazing, bohemian area. Prior to this we ate at La Fieschetta (just off Campo De’Fiori) – which was probably the food highlight of the weekend (which is a big statement, considering how much we ate!)

Sadly all good things must come to an end. Our weekend was truly amazing – I can’t wait to start planning our next trip back!

Ser fantastiskt ut. Jag och en av mina bästa vänner åker till Barcelona i november. Jag vet ju att du bodde där i några år så jag undrar om du har några bra tips på vad man inte får missa? :) Både shopping, mat, kulturellt och uteliv!

      Hei Paula,

Oi det er masse! Dra til El Borne, masse bra barer. Beste sushien heter Parco, ett must! Gracia har masse bra plazar, veldig lokalt og bra. Beste shoppingen ligger i Passeig de Gràcia! Eller saa er det bra i Avenue Diagonal, begge har en mix av designer og high street. Beste vintagen ligger i Raval omraadet. En bra klubb er Sutton, men jeg har ikke vaert ute der paa lenge, saa er usikker paa den beste hotspoten akkurat naa! Sightseeing er Parc Guell og Montjuic. Kos dere!

      Hi Lisa,

Absolutely – it’s stunning! I would reccomend going off-season though, as it’s very touristy!

      Hi Cat,

Thank you! It’s from Pieces – not sure if it’s in stores yet though, it’s from the SS14 collection.

      Anneli
