Pure Flow at The Bulgari Hotel, London

Pure Flow at The Bulgari Hotel, London

Leading up to our honeymoon, I have been working hard to stay in shape and eating healthy, making sure I feel, and look my upmost best. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Spa at The Bulgari Hotel & Residences in Knightsbridge for an event – so I was over the moon, when I was invited back again to try one of their body treatments!

The Treatment

I decided to go for one of their most recent treatment additions to the spa menu, called Pure Flow, which is completly exclusive to the Bulgari Spa. The treatment is designed to flush out the lymphatic drainage system, decreasing the amount of fluid retention in the legs. It also helps to boost kidney function, by regulating salt levels in the body thereby decreasing the amount of fluid the body will hold. Sounds like the perfect treatment for me (hello shorts/bikini season!).

Review

It is probably up there with one of the strangest treatments I have ever had (a long with the strangest looking!). You are connected to the machine with this body wrap (which goes over your clothes) and a heart monitor that pumps air to massage your legs and thighs following your heartbeat. At first, it feels very strange and intense, but that sensation eases off after a few minutes, and it actually feels really good (strangely I even managed to fall asleep for a few minutes, even though it was so powerful!).

The purpose and theory behind Pure Flow is that is stimulates your circulation – which is extra beneficial if you´re embarking on a detox, if you have stiff muscles or achy joints. It´s meant to invigorate and uplift your body and legs, making you feel lighter and more flexible. I had the treatment following a hard exercise session, so it felt extra nice on my sore muscles!

Straight after the treatment and the following days, my legs felt so light and my whole body felt awoken and energised! Yes, it´s a strange concept and treatment initially, but after feeling the effects straight away, I can safely say I am converted (and coming back for more!).

I only tested a single session (and noticed the effects straight away) – they do however recommend the treatment as a course, to see maximum effects.

The Spa Facilities

Now about the spa… It´s beyond stunning. It´s super private (hence the quality of the pictures using my iPhone and not whipping out my big SLR camera!) and so quiet and tranquil. It was haven from start to finish; excellent service (as expected), amazing facilities comprising of two fitness rooms, steam rooms, saunas, ice showers, 11 treatment rooms, one luxurious private spa suite and a relaxation room (the latter of which had a built in fireplace, which was so relaxing!), and not to mention – they have the largest indoor pool in London! One of my favourite facilities was their vitality pool (pictured below), which had a variety of full body massage jets – so nice.

Steam and sauna rooms, with an ice shower; the heat and cold contrast is so good for boosting circulation and tightening your skin!
