ON MY MIND: GET FIT

ON MY MIND: GET FIT

Its that time of year; where we leave old and bad habits behind (much of which occurs during the month of December), and start afresh in January. We make plans, resolutions and start working towards the summer months.

I am all about resetting and having a kickstart, however I am also a firm believer in keeping fit and active all year around; not making too high plans and achievements just for January; working towards more of a realistic balance and plan to fit in your life. When it comes to fitness, you need to find what works for you – which isn’t necessarily the latest fitness craze, or something which burns 600 calories (but you dread it each time). I for one hate running and have finally stopped torturing myself with it, and have since found so many other great activities and classes I love; mentionably HIIT training, Pilates, Body Pump (my favourite), Spinning and Hot Yoga. I find these exercises in combination, gives me energy, strength and toning (and doesn’t ruin my knees!).

Find something you enjoy and look forward to it – then invest in some great gear to keep you motivated! There are so many amazing styles out there – I have just spent the last hour browsing on Net-a-Porters new Sport section… If there is one thing to get you going, this is it!

Anneli thanks for saying you dislike running, I’ve just hit my 49th birthday and I’m desperately trying to shed the weight that seems to have appeared over the last two years. Running literally makes me feel like a fitness failure, great to know I’m not the only one who hates it…….yoga is the way to go!

It´s important you find what works for you, and something that you enjoy – which means you´ll do more of it! Yoga and Pilates is fantastic exercise… :)
