NEW CHAPTER

NEW CHAPTER

I’m writing this on a sunny Spring day in Oslo, three days after moving from London. Yes that’s right, we’ve moved abroad! I still can’t believe that this day has come, it still feels pretty surreal to the all of us. Although it’s something we have talked about since last summer, the fact that we’ve actually packed up our entire life over in London, and made such a huge move and life-changing decision, is still just sinking in…

Of course in the end, it all made sense to us – seeing as my family are over here, and the need to be closer to family (and friends) is so much more apparent now that we have Rio in our lives. Not to mention, the need to be somewhere more green, healthy and with a much better work/life balance, was definitely a huge pulling factor for us too. I haven’t lived in Norway since 2006, so it’s been a big decision for me as well… Especially as we both love London so much, and we’ve planted really deep roots in the leafy suburban London area we’ve been in for the past 3 years, with our house (which we still own, fortunately), and a lovely network of friends. However the daily grind and commute, for my husband especially, was taking it’s toll on our family life, and we knew something had to give.

Rio

We did a pro and cons list for months, and decided last July to start planning towards a move. Then after some further thought, we decided to postpone it for another year or so. We were trying to be sensible. But let’s face it, we all know sensible doesn’t always equal into happiness! Fast forward 4-5 months on and we still couldn’t get it out of our heads – so we decided to take the plunge and just go for it. Because life is too short, right? I mean, anything can happen in life, you never now what’s around the corner, so you just have to take the risk. Life itself is just a continuous long path, with constant cross roads on your way – and for now, this seems like the right move for us. Logically, it all made sense too, with my husband being able to transfer with work, and for me? Well, it’s less than a 2 hour plane ride away, and we’ll  still have a base in London to come back to every 6-8 weeks.

So I thought I would just jump on here and let you guys now (if you hadn’t already spotted it on my Instagram), and also let you know that it’s still business as usual from my side, just with a bit of a different backdrop!

Must be great to be closer to the family.
Watching Rio play with his cousin more often will be wonderful for the soul of you all.
