As I’m not doing so much travelling abroad at the moment (for obvious reasons), I am making the most out of our beautiful country and having lots of mini staycation escapes instead! We just came back from Oxfordshire on Monday (more on that trip next week), and have otherwise been to Dorset, Hampshire, Hastings, Dorset and Buckinghamshire. With all of this, I feel like I’ve certainly managed to master the act of keeping it relatively easy and light when it comes to packing – especially when it comes to my toiletries (one which I am known to normally go way overboard with in terms of always packing way too much)… So I thought I would share some of my current go-to favourites with you guys – with all my core get-away beauty essentials…
So you might think that my selection is rather large for a weekend – but this is truly the typical amount I would bring, and for me, the bare necessities (I usually pack way more for longer holidays!).
So let me introduce to you my…
WEEKEND ESSENTIALS
I cleanse and re-fresh using the Romilly Wilde Light+Energy Serum Cleanser – a super rich, oil based cleanser, which just melts into your skin. It lifts any impurities and make-up, leaving my skin feeling primed, hydrated and restored – not to mention calm and balanced. I apply a generous layer and massage it in (I love a cleanser which really allows you to massage whilst cleansing), and then I remove it all off with a hot muslin cloth, which is the best way to wipe of all grime, congestion and leftover make-up. Oh, and it only uses 100% active, plant based ingredients (this one included White Water Lily, Arnica Flower, Saffron, Manuka and the unique Wilde Herb formula).
After cleansing, I tone using the super mild Avène Gentle Toner. This protective and alcohol-free toner is ideal for dry or sensitive skin. I love how it gently cleanses, soothes and calms the overall complexion – leaving it feeling so soft, clean and moisturised following the cleansing. It’s important to shake the bottle before to mix the formula together – then I just apply it with a soft cotton pad to the face and neck, to remove off any excess residue.
After both cleansing steps, I apply my serum. I have been using the ones from Romilly Wilde for the past few months, which I am absolutely loving so far. In the morning I use the Active Boost Face Oil, which is such a fantastic product… A centric blend of dynamic plants and flower oils – it’s a real supercharged treatment, great for anti-ageing. It oil balances, nurtures and really rejuvenates to add an all-day, long lasting glow to your complexion. Come evening time, I have been using the Advanced Stemcell Serum – which is a dynamic, anti-ageing,´superfood` serum which helps boost your stem cells function, and increases your skin´s elasticity – using essential oils, seaweed and the highest form of Hyaluronic Acid.
After the serum, I apply my eye cream, and have been using the Darphin All-Day Eye Refresh Gel-Cream – which helps hydrate, depute and diminish dark circles. With Frozen Water Algae, Salicornia Herbacea and Butterfly Lavender, the eye area is boosted with a real refreshing cooling hydration (and 91% of ingredients are from natural origin).
After the eye-cream, it’s time to apply the daily moisturiser (come evening and during summer time, I only tend to use a serum at nighttime). One of current favourites, is the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF30, which is one of my favourite face moisturisers, for the simple fact that it really reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also boosts hydration and elasticity – leaving skin feeling firm, toned and radiant. Oh, and it protects as well, with the broad spectrum UVA and UVB. Love.
After the moisturiser has properly sunk in, I apply the Darphin Intral Environmental Lightweight Shield SPF 50 – a lightweight sheer fluid with mineral-based UVA/UVB filters (SPF50), for that extra level of breathable layer, to help skin against pollution and environmental aggressors. It’s also really hydrating, and acts as the most natural-looking make-up base.
For some added glow and coverage, and especially now during the summer when I hardly ever wear make-up, I finish off the NARS Charlotte Gainsbourg Hydrating Glow Tint – which gives the most fresh-faced perfection, awakening dull skin and evens out the tone with a sheer and natural-looking coverage. Super weightless – this refreshing gel-cream delivers a foolproof, brush-free application: I just lightly massage it into my skin with my fingertips for that healthy-looking glow.
Last but not least, who can forget deodorant? My current favourite is MALIN + GOETZ Eucalyptus Deodorant – alcohol and aluminium free, suitable for all skin types (especially for those with sensitive skin). With refreshing natural eucalyptus extract and odour, giving up to 24 hour of pure freshness – without staining, irritation or residue.
…and that’s it guys! What are your weekend essentials?
