Hey fellow mamas (or mamas to be!). Apologies that this has taken a while to pull together (you know, life happens + a 5 month old baba!) – but here it is: a round up of all my favourite nursing friendly pieces (all affordable from the high street, of course), along with some style recommendations and tips. I’m not proclaiming to be a master expert by any means – as most of the time, I just tend to get on with it, and basically wear what I like. When that said, when I know I’m out and about for a full day, or I’m going to a restaurant/cafe to meet friends in public – I make sure I adjust accordingly to make the whole process easier – and have therefore rounded up the typical style of clothing, and pieces that I can’t live without when it comes to nursing out and about.

Personally, I always fully cover up when I breastfeed out in public. That’s not to say I’m judging anyone who does it freely (respect to you!), but I personally tend to feel so much more self-conscious, unless I cover up with a shawl or a nursing apron. So I never leave the house without Aden + Anais muslins cloths and this nursing cover – they’re like my safety net. A nursing cover does exactly that – cover everything up, but it doesn’t make it any easier if you’re wearing a long dress that you have to hoist right up!

When it comes to clothing, and as I’m planning on breastfeeding for at least one year (if he’ll take that long) – it’s obviously been key to find the right styles for breastfeeding. And here are some of my faves…

The key here is loose fit styles which are easy to hoist up. Shirts are also a great option, oversized blouses and off-the-shoulder styles.

Comfortable, soft jeans are the best. Loose fitted pants, tailored or wide. High waisted skirts, short or long.

The simplest style of dress to wear when you’re breastfeeding, and fortunately there are SO many gorgeous styles out there right now…

#4 BRAS

Soft, comfortable and as flattering, as nursing bras, goes…
