I´m pretty minimal when it comes to my make-up look. It´s a combination of my love for the ´less is more` look, laziness/lack of time, and wanting to maintain really clear skin (without clogging it up with layers of make-up). Gone are the days of caking on the bronzer and mascara, but luckily I´ve never really worn much foundation. After reaching 30, I have never been more skin confident, and I know this has a lot to do with me finally knowing what make-up look really suits me, and what products work for my complexion. I also have a pretty quick make-up routine – which I´ve perfected, meaning it takes me less than 5 minutes to do. The products below are all part of my everyday go-to look, and come evening, I just add some lippy or eyeshadow – but the basics always stay the same.
First up, I am all about adding lots of moisture, before applying any make-up. I love Herbivore´s Lapis Balancing Facial Oil, and I either use it as a primer, or I blend it in with Perricone MD´s No Foundation Foundation, which is the only foundation I ever use, as it´s super lightweight and sheer. I don´t use this foundation every day, all depending if I feel I need that bit extra coverage. I also like blending in Niod´s Photography Fluid afterwards – which gives a super lightweight and natural coverage, with that glowy Photoshop finish.
One thing I never leave the house without, is NARS´s Soft Matte Complete Concealer (in colour Macadamia) – which is the BEST concealer I have ever come across. I mean, it will change your life. Or at least, it has done with mine! Since I´ve started using this, I rarely wear anything else, other than a tinted SPF and this concealer. And considering I have always suffered from light pigmentation on my forehead and cheeks, this alone gives such great coverage and blurs all my imperfections, yet it´s still super smooth and lightweight.
After my skin is covered and concealed, I love using the highlighter on the MAC Studio QuikTrik Stick (which I also shared in my Monthly Favourites). It´s a multi use stick – with the highlighter and a contouring part, but I only tend to use the highlighter side (which just happens to be the best I have yet to try). It gives of a super soft, natural and dewy finish.
After the highlighter, I apply the Revlon Insta-Blush (in colour Berry Kiss) – a super creamy and blendable blusher, which gives a natural kiss of colour to my cheeks. After the blusher, I add some more colour with the Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder (in colour Moyen), to add some glow to my cheekbones, forehead and chin.
Once all of that is done, I move over to the eyes. I start with the eyeshadow, of which I am currently obsessed with Tom Ford´s Eye Colour Quad (I use Nude Dip). I love a nude colour palette, and the versatility with this selection is great; I usually use the top two lighter shades just to add a light sheen, and then use the medium brown in my eyelid crease, to contour. Come evening, I might use the darkest shade, if I fancy bit of a smoky eye.
I finish off my eyes, with the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen (in colour Deeper) to create a subtle but pointy line, to help open my eyes. I then fill in my brows using Tom Ford´s Brow Sculptor (I mix Espresso and Taupe together) – which helps enhance and define the eye area. I finish off with Revlon´s Ultra Volume Mascara, which is an ideal mascara to really lengthen and give super full lashes, without any lumps.
I am not that into lipsticks or glosses, so on my lips I tend to use something a bit more subtle, such as Clinique´s Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm (in Pink Sherbet or Melon) – which just gives that perfect touch of colour, yet keeping my lippies super soft and looking plump.
…and there you have it; my up-to-date make-up routine, with all my go-to products! Don´t forget to leave me a comment if you have any questions – I always love to hear from you.
