Aside from fashion, beauty and healthy living – my other passion is interior. Its something I’ve always been into from a very young age – I can remember changing my room around and re-decorate at least once a week.
Another hobby was to re-store and paint old furniture (back when shabby chic was so on-trend). I have moved on in many ways – style wise and emotionally (yes, there’s a lot of emotion that goes into decorating!) – and I am constantly getting new ideas and style inspirations.
In the past I used to like a lot of stuff around me to make it ultra cozy and homely, which I think stems from living abroad and away from my family for so many years – as well as different textures and styles mixed together. Now, I am much more in an eclectic and contemporary phase – taking a lot of inspiration from my Scandinavian heritage, with neutral colourings and a lot of natural material (wood, stone, metal).
Its quite handy that I married someone who also likes change; we are now on our fourth property in London, and for each one we’ve bought and sold – its been a different design and story. Obviously, they have all been distinct from each other – which has also been exciting, enabling us to create something unique each time!
I have a lot of go-to´s for my interior fixes, and take inspiration from several designers. I really like British based designer Kelly Hoppen´s designs – which is also very clean and neutral, with an East meets West aesthetic. One of my favourite pieces from this seasons range, are these gorgeous large cross velvet cushions. They are minimal, yet such great statement pieces! With our minimal colour palette – they naturally slotted straight in.
I also love the Zen tableware from her range – the neutral grey and taupe palette looks excellent with our white and grey kitchen; I adore the softer edges, crafted out of hard-wearing stoneware – following the natural look and ethos of the Scandinavian style I was after in this property.
