MY AUTUMN/WINTER SKINCARE SWITCH-UP

MY AUTUMN/WINTER SKINCARE SWITCH-UP

It’s that time again, my seasonal skincare update! As Autumn quickly merged into Winter here in Oslo (it’s so cold here already), I thought it made sense to just combine them both; as I’ve basically been using the same products for the past 1-2 months, and the specific routine has been working really well. So here is my updated skincare skincare switch-up, with all the products I’m loving right now…

MORNING ROUTINE

1. Wake-up! Water.
I rinse my face with luke-warm/cold water every morning first thing.

2. Face Mist: Herbivore Jasmine Green Tea Balancing Toner
After rinsing, I apply this synthetic free toner, which is super refreshing and antioxidant-packed. With white willow bark and soothing jasmine water, it helps to balance and calm your complexion.

3. Antioxidant Serum: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum
Once my skin is dry again, I apply my go-to serum, this potent Vitamin C serum targeted at anti-ageing, a boost of antioxidants, with the ultimate brightening effect. It’s been a total life-saver of mine, and I seldom go a day without it. It’s an investment, but so worth it, in my opinion.

4. Tan: Tan-Luxe Super Glow Hyaluronic Self-Tan Serum
When I want that extra glow (which is particularity a must now that we’re moving into winter), I’m currently loving Tan-Luxe’s brand new serum launch, which delivers an effortless and streak-free tan, whilst nourishing your skin. I’m currently using it only 1-2 times a week, and apply it after my previous serum has had proper time to sink in.

5. Moisturiser or Oil:
Dr Roebuck’s No Worries Hydrating Face Moisturiser OR Herbivore Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil
All depending on how my skin is feeling that day, I either apply a moisturiser or an oil for that added boost of moisture…The Dr Roebuck’s moisturiser is your ultimate everyday no-fuss moisturiser, with all clean ingredients. It’s lightweight, yet perfect for dry and thirsty skin, with infusions of Macadamia Oil, hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil. It deeply hydrates, softens, brightens and rejuvenates.
The Herbivore oil, is something I like to use when my skin is feeling extra EXTRA thirsty. I love that it’s not too oily and it’s fast absorbing, as well as ultra calming (with environmental-stress-defending adaptogens such as shiitake mushrooms and ashwagandha root), and is seriously hydrating (due to the omega-rich and soothing hemp seed oil).

6. Face Massage:
Herbivore Gua Sha Facial Tool
After applying either the moisturiser or the face oil, I love using this cooling rose quartz facial tool. It helps to improve the appearance of elasticity, reduce the appearance of puffiness and fine lines, ease facial muscle tension and helps the oil or moisturiser to absorb better into the skin. Store in the fridge for extra soothing effects – the ultimate wake-up!

7. SPF: SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial UV Defense SPF 50
I wear SPF just about every day, come rain or shine, winter or summer. This is my all-time favourite after being through my fair share. Not only does it have a high UVA/UVB broad-spectrum SPF 50, it’s super lightweight and a really easily absorbed, hydrating sunscreen.

8. Eye Cream: Tata Harper Illuminating Eye Crème
This bioactive and 100% natural eye cream, is a new favourite of mine, with it’s illuminating subtle peachy tint effect, and light-reflective properties (disguising dark circles in an instant). It brightens, firms and awakens your eye-area when you need it the most.

EVENING ROUTINE

1. Eye Make-Up Remover: Respectissime Eye Make-Up Remover
This is a super gentle, highly effective and soothing make-up remover for sensitive eyes. I always use this as the first step in my evening skincare routine, to ensure I am not over-rubbing my eyes with just a cleanser.

2. Cleanser: Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
This is the first product I’ve tried from of Glossier’s skincare range, and I absolutely love it! I’m very fussy with my cleansers and only have a handful that I love, and this one is now one of them. It’s the ultimate daily face wash; to dissolve make-up and grime. It leaves my skin silky soft and squeaky clean, without drying it put. It’s also hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, safe for the eye area, appropriate for all skin types, soap free, paraben free, sulfate free and cruelty free. It’s a thumbs up from me. Every other day, I use it together with the Foreo Luna Cleansing Brush, for the ultimate deep cleanse, and my skin has never felt cleaner.

3. Toner: Bioderma Purifying Cleansing Micellar Water
I’ve been using the micellar water for years, and it’s by far the best one out there (hence why it’s such a cult favourite). It’s ideal to use after cleansing, to ensure your face is free from all dirt, grime and make-up. Formulated from non-irritating and sebo-purifying active ingredients, it also helps to soften and rebalance the skin. I love it so much!

4. Retinol:
Skinceuticals Retinol
I have been using this for the past 6-8 weeks, every other day, and so far, so good. With 0.3% pure retinol, this potent night-time cream, helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, discolouration, blemishes, and pores by accelerating cellular turnover. My skin is left feeling so smooth and bright the morning after. This particular Retinol is actually recommended for first-time retinol users (which I am), and I can highly recommend it, if you happened to be on the fence with Retinol.

5. Moisturiser:
 SkinCeuticals Redness Neutraliser
After the Retinol, I apply this lightweight cream on top, which helps with signs of Rosacea (I have it mildly) and flushing, as well as preventing and correcting redness. It combats environmental triggers, whilst protecting the skin’s barriers, and gives a lightweight moisture.

6. Extra Moisture:
Herbivore Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment
When my skin is feeling extra thirsty or dry, I love to use this gorgeous night treatment, which is crammed with superfruits and fruit enzymes, as well as being antioxidant-rich, hydrating and super brightening. Your complexion feels refreshed, radiant and thirst-quenched come morning. The ultimate night-time luxury for your skin.

…and that’s it guys! Hope you enjoyed my seasonal skincare round-up. Please leave a comment below and let me know if there is anything else, beauty or skincare related, you would like to see here on the blog?
