MONTHLY FAVOURITES #38

Where is this summer going?! Although it’s been a slower summer then usual for us in terms of travelling now that I’m pregnant, I still feel like it’s flying by. Or maybe that’s just because I’m kind of wishing the days and weeks by, as I just want our baby boy to arrive already! Either way, it’s been a lovely summer, and I for one am loving that it’s slightly cooled down a bit (although the rain can hurry up and leave!). Here are some of my this month’s favourite bits – and as I am nearing my due date, I have included some pregnancy essentials in there too!

So let’s start with the first two pregnancy essentials… First up is the Liewood nursing pillow from fab Scandinavian inspired British baby/children/maternity retailer, Scandibørn (you need to check this site out, so good!). Although it’s a nursing pillow – which I have every intention of using it for when our baba arrives – in the meantime I have been using it to sleep with, and it’s been an absolute lifesaver. I have been lying on my side, keeping it in between my legs and wrapping it underneath my bump, making it so much more comfortable come bedtime (as sleeping has been a struggle!). The quilted cover is organic and the included filling is made of hypoallergenic fossflakes – providing lasting ergonomic support as well as allowing the air to circulate throughout the cushion to keep you cool.

Secondly, I have really been enjoying reading The Bump Class by Dr Chiara Hunt and Marina Fogle – which has been definitely more of an enjoyable (non-scary) read to prepare us for what’t to come. With lots of down to earth advice, with no set formula – just friendly and warm advice – it’s been a refreshing change from some of the other books which are much more strict and regimented.

New favourite sunnies from Jimmy Choo – which are quickly becoming my favourite sunglasses brand! These ones are so gorgeous, and they always making me feel so glamorous yet edgy, when I wear them. The price point is on the higher side, but if you’re like me, and really take care of your sunnies (I have yet to have ever lost a pair), these are definitely a classic investment buy.

I am all about sliders this season, so much so, that I invested in two colours with the & Other Stories pointed flats – the first pair, in this gorgeous burnt orange in a smooth satin material, are so chic. Not to mention, super comfortable! I have been wearing them with skinny cropped jeans, and I swear they elongate and make my legs looks longer (and thinner) – which is very good thing at the moment!

Two new make-up must-haves this summer, include the new DIOR Addict Lip Tattoo – the first long wear lip tint by the brand, with a”10-hour hold” and a weightless “no transfer”” finish. I am slightly unsure about the 10 hours – but it does give a gorgeous, natural tint to your lips, which stays on much longer than most lippies. I love it so far. Then, I am beyond obsessed with NARS’s Liquid Blusher – which also gives such a natural rush of colour and glow to your cheeks, it doesn’t smudge and is so long-lasting. Probably the best liquid blusher I have ever come across.

I love the new Jo Malone charity candle collection (empowering people with mental ill health to recover). With a special limited edition packaging in this gorgeous floral print, I love the Iris & Lady Moore candle, with notes from an English country garden, with iris, geranium and grass. Dreamy.

I know there is a lot of talk about how pregnant women can experience fuller, thicker and glossier hair during the pregnancy, however I am sadly not one of those! My hair has been feeling so limp and lacklustre, meaning I have had to do a lot more styling then I usually would do (I have always been pretty low-maintenance when it comes to my hair). I have been using Percy & Reed hair care products for the last few weeks, and so far, so good! I have been using the Really Rather Radiant Divine Shine Shampoo & Conditioner – with raspberry oil to add shimmer, Vitamin E to moisturise, pro vitamin B5 for strength, plus nourishing grape seed oil and aloe vera gel. The combo has left my hair looking and feeling super shiny, yet bouncy and full. After cleaning my hair, I have been using the Wonder Treatment Oil, with camellia seed oil to restore moisture and protect – as well as the Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil, Oil – also adding moisture, as well as smoothing, repairing, rehydrating and conditioning your hair from root to tip.

If you read my recent pregnancy beauty post here, featuring Unity Beauty Esssentials – you would know already that I am a big fan of the brand’s Complete Duo Stretch Mark Cream + Oil – the first-ever stretch mark cream and oil to come together in one single product. The water-based cream works on the surface while the nutrients in the oils penetrate into skin, helping to prevent and reduce the risk of stretch marks while improving skin elasticity. Additionally, any dryness and itchiness that women feel as their baby grows will quickly be soothed away.

I am all about regular face exfoliation – which is an absolute must for your skin (preventing clogged pores and allowing serums and moisturisers to absorb better). This lightweight gel exfoliating lotion from Immunocologie is ideal for those who tend to shy away from harsh, overly ‘scrubby’ exfoliators. It exfoliates at a much finer level in the form of acids (glycolic and lactic acid) – which helps to remove dead skin cells, whilst adjusting to your skin’s pH balance and sebum levels – so it’s mild enough to use every day. I have been using it every night (as a leave on-treatment for more intense results), and it’s really been helping with my pigmentation.

Another great beauty buy, includes the TAN-LUXE Sleep Oil Rejuvenating Miracle Tanning Oil – an overnight treatment oil, which rejuvenates, stimulates and hydrates your skin using 6 essential oils, whilst delivering a natural-looking, radiant tanned glow (oh, and it’s all toxic free).

As well as the satin burnt orange style, I also invested in the zebra printed style from & Other Stories – and I don’t know which one I love more! These are definitely more practical, in terms of them not being in satin – and you all know that I am sucker for animal print as well as monochrome…

I have been investing in a lot of ASOS maternity jeans – but I was recently sent a few from Topshop Maternity (which everyone has been saying are the best when it comes to jeans), and I now understand why! My favourite so far is the Leigh model – which is a cropped, skinny style, with under the bump waistband (the best). So slimming and flattering.

Because I am toiletry bag hoarder, and I a sucker for anything personalised… Needless to say, it was love at first sight with this leather wash bag from Mon Purse. Love!
