My immune system is pretty solid and I seldom get ill. I think the last time I had a cold or a flu was well over a year ago, and then it was only that one time (sorry if I´m sounding super annoying right now). But I swear it´s because of my diet and the level of immune-boosting ingredients that´s in my daily diet, such as citrus fruits, tons of ginger and daily doses of turmeric… For the past few months, I have religiously been drinking this daily morning tonic, and I swear, not only have I not picked up any bugs or germs; my energy levels are so much better – which is pretty ideal during the darker winter months…

It´s no secret that a healthy mind and body increases the length and quality of life, helping us along the road to success and ultimately bringing more meaning and joy to our lives… With over half our lives spent at work, the challenges to living a healthy happy life are many. There´s no denying it – I am not a natural runner. I feel like some people were born to do running, and others, not so much (pounding the treadmills have never really been my “thing”). Until last summer, when I was going through quite a tough and mentally stressful period in my life, and completely on the spur of the moment, I jumped into my running trainers, and off I went. And I didn’t stop, I didn’t look back – and not only did it get me through that particularly difficult time in my life – it completely transformed the way I feel about running.
One of my favourite things to do when I go to L.A, and which has somewhat become the perfect ritual and remedy to beat the jet lag every time we go – is embracing the workout scene here. Wanting to be healthy in L.A is not difficult; with a juice bar on every corner, new healthy brunch shacks opening on a weekly basis, the hills to hike in, the beaches to run on, the great weather… Not to mention the majority rocking a killer bod with that effortless Cali glow. Ok, so working out while you’re on holiday or travelling, might not be the first thing on your list of priorities once you’re away – but it´s something worth while considering – unless you want to return back feeling sluggish, 5 pounds heavier and back to square one! That´s not to say you can’t indulge, unwind and fully enjoy yourself (which is basically the whole point with a holiday), but scheduling in a short daily workout (even if it´s just 10 minutes) – is enough to leave you feeling fit, healthy and energised during, and once you’re back from your travels.

I’ve spoken a bit about my daily rituals and routines in the past; but I thought I’d give you a little insight into my new morning routines for the summer months (it’s important to switch things up from season to season), and how I like to inject more energy into my life, whilst making the most of the longer days.
There´s been a whole lot of me since I launched the blog late 2011 – so I thought it was about time I featured my other (and definitely, better) half, for once. You might have already spotted him on my Instagram, or from our Wedding Album blog post, but that´s about it. So when I teamed up with his all-time favourite shopping website, MR PORTER, to share his go-to grooming and wellness routine (with a little help from moi), I also took this opportunity to share a snippet into our love story and a little insight into my very own, Mr. Bush.
Establishing certain routines and habits have become such an important part of my day-to-day life. Especially since becoming self-employed, where a strong sense of discipline and self-control is even more important than before. Starting my days off with these routines, really creates a sense of balance, stability, and motivation to my days. I actually feel completely lost if I don’t manage to do some of them; which includes making my bed (marking the start of a new day), a cup of hot water and lemon (detoxifies and cleanses), breakfast (the first opportunity to nourish my body with goodness) and working out (gives me more energy). Recently, I´ve added something new to the mix…
Habits. Good or bad, shape our lives. We are what we repeatedly do and our lives naturally change with our habits. They affect all areas of our lives; from our career to our relationships, health, wellbeing (and everything in-between). Habits help create our personality and form the basis of every-day living; from conscious to sub-conscious ones, to positive or negative… One thing’s for sure – in whatever shape or form, we can’t live our days without them.
A healthy body starts from within; it´s what gives us that natural glow, bright eyes, fresh complexion, happy body, and mind. It doesn´t matter how many lotions and potions you’re using – if you´re not nourishing your body, getting enough sleep and exercising on a regular basis – no magical pot of cream will make that skin and body glow!
Following on from my fitness post a few weeks back, I thought I´d do a continuation with more of a concrete insight into how I´m getting bikini ready when it comes to my go-to beauty routine, more leading tips from fitness experts to get you going, and how nourishing your body (instead of depriving it), is the key to that long-term, healthy summer body.
I´m OBSESSED with Matcha. I have it near enough every day. I don´t drink coffee, so Matcha is my daily caffeine fix, always giving me that extra hit and boost of energy. Don´t know what Matcha is? It´s basically finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. So a really condensed version of a regular green tea bag (one single serving of Matcha is the equivalent of 10 cups of regular green tea!). Do you see why I´m addicted?
Only a few more days, and we´re into the month of June. Can you believe it? There´s no denying many of us are feeling the same slight panic and stress by the thought of jumping into a bikini any time soon (I know I am!). But it´s never to late to adjust that diet and training regime – no time like the present, right?
It´s taken me thirty years to get to a calm state of mind, and a stronger sense of inner balance. After waves of insecure and weaker periods of my life (letting stress affect me far too much), I´m stronger, and more stable than ever… And although those waves sometimes peek in every now and again (don´t they with us all?) – I now know what to do and ways to handle it. The perks of getting older I guess!
My daily rituals are pretty sacred to me, and unless I´m travelling or on-the-go, it pretty much stays the same every day. I guess that´s why I love it so much; having those consistent and stable day-to-day rituals, makes me focused – which in turn leaves me much more motivated to maintain good, and healthy routines.
