Kitchen Essentials

I get a lot of e-mails, comments and feedback in regards to my health and fitness regime. So I have decided to open up my kitchen cupboards to you in this new series. I hope all my trusted fashion readers don’t mind too much!

Prunes: I’ve loved prunes ever since I was a little girl, with my mum always having a box or bag of them in the cupboard! They’re also really high in fibre and an excellent source of dietary fibre – which is important to your digestive system and regulating the level of cholesterol and blood sugar in the body.

Dairy-free mint flavoured dark chocolate: I love dark chocolate, and this dairy-free one is a good alternative when I’m trying to be very good. Dark chocolate is also loaded with antioxidants, contains a number of vitamins and minerals that can support your health, helps control your blood sugar, and much more.

Nakd raw fruit bars: As I suffer from slightly low blood sugar and iron, I always try to have some kind of snack with me when I’m on-the-go – be it a bag of almonds, pecan nuts or Nakd bars. Containing 100% natural ingredients with no added sugars or syrups,  these bars are also wheat, dairy and gluten free. Super yummy and a perfect, healthy snack to keep you going in between meals!

Nettle tea: I love my tea – especially in the evenings (yes, I’m getting older and these are my small joys). Nettle tea have so many benefits, so I will only list a few; it’s a rich source of vitamin C, vitamin K, high iron, anti-inflammatory, refreshes and cleans the whole body, and the perfect detox tea!

Fennel tea: This tea is great if you’re prone to bloating (another great tea for detox), helps flush toxins out of the body, improves your metabolism and mostly, it’s relaxing! I also love (and prefer) the flavour to this one – with it’s slight liquorish taste.

All from Holland & Barrett

And there you have it, a few of my food essentials. More to come!

I love those Nakd bars!! They’re so yummy. I’d do loads of my food shopping in Holland & Barratt if I could!

Not keen on prunes though, my Mum used to force feed me them if I was having ‘digestive problems’ – arghhh!!
