KIND OF BACK

KIND OF BACK

So it’s over 3 months since I became a mummy, and I’m finally getting back into the swing of things. I am by no means working full time (at all), but every now and again (when he sleeps, basically) – and I don’t have mounds of washing to do (which is a rarity!), and catching up on some general life/house/Rio admin – I try to make some time to stay creative. Be it write a bit, shoot some new bits, reply to some e-mails. Nothing major, but just keeping my foot slightly still in the game. But also, my foot firmly off the pedal, as I am still making the most out of this precious newborn bubble…

Now I knew I was never going to have a traditional maternity leave, as that rarely happens when you’re running your own business – however I was adamant that I would take a break from the blog (still keeping up my Instagram though), as it’s what essentially used to take up the majority of my time. Researching, planning, shooting, editing… All the stuff that I love doing (and which I hope you enjoy the benefits of too!), but no longer have the full capacity to do. Naturally, being a new mama and juggling all the emotions and happiness that comes with it; not to mention the sleep deprivation, lack of time and enormous shift of focus, with Rio now being my number one priority in life – the blog has been on a natural break (with the exception of a few posts here and there)… But I’m finally ready to start sharing more again. Not to the usual full capacity, but aiming to get something up once a week – focusing on quality, rather than quantity. And it’s not that I’m not loving being a mummy, which is do – more than anything – however I’ve always liked to keep busy and I’m a natural creative person – so the urge to stay creative (perhaps for myself, more than anything), is so important to me. Nothing major, but just setting myself a weekly goal to shoot and write something fun for the site, and which I most importantly, enjoy doing!

I will continue with fashion led post (as it still seems to be very popular with you guys), but what I have realised while being on ‘maternity leave’, is how much interest there is in this next stage of my life. I already noticed this during my pregnancy, especially with my Baby Diaries series, and since becoming I mummy – I have been getting lots of requests for more ‘mummy led’ posts – such as postnatal fitness (which is on it’s way, I promise!), baby updates, fashion inspiration, health routines, etc…

So that’s where I’m currently at. Creating something new for you guys once a week (or try my best too, please don’t hold me to it!). And while we’re at it – I would love it if you could let me know: WHAT YOU WANT TO READ & SEE MORE OF ON THE BLOG? Please drop me an e-mail or leave a comment below, and I promise that I’ll add it to my blog schedule!

Now, let’s change subjects and go straight to this outfit! I’m obsessed with Baker Boy hats at the moment… I never thought I suited hats, but this simple black style, has really won me over – and has also proven to be a lifesaver, with my (far too frequent) 4-day mum hair. The perfect way to hide a not-so-perfect hair day… Teamed with some of my favourite wardrobe staples at the moment – comfortable boyfriend jeans, the classic navy coat, the comfiest cashmere hoodie, some classic black booties, and a luxe bag.

…and that luxe bag, just happened to be the biggest STEAL of a buy, and still available here. It’s so different from all my other bags, with the bright pop of colour, and I love the double metal chain – enabling you to wear it two ways.

Comfort is definitely key at the moment, being a new mummy – and although I tend to live in leggings, trainers and sweats for most of the time – when I do decide to make more of an effort, I am still keeping it relatively casual, and choosing clothing which makes it easy to run around, yet still feels stylish.

Hey Anneli, Firstly, glad you’re enjoying motherhood and taking a backseat from working as much. Secondly,I LOVE your interiors posts. Anything to do with that, or decor ideas would be amazing. I am about to begin a kitchen extension and your interior style is a massive inspiration to me. x
