HOW I’M KEEPING FIT ON-THE-GO

HOW I’M KEEPING FIT ON-THE-GO

Firstly, happy International Walk to Work Day! Quite aptly, I’m tying in the theme of walking (and how to keep on top of your fitness levels on a day-to-day basis) in today’s blog post. I previously shared my Post-Baby Wellness Tips, where I mentioned my main reason for shedding the weight, being the simple (and free) fitness of walking. Since having Rio, I have never walked as much in my life, and it never stops. Be it for his daily sleeps, or just running errands, I’m constantly on the run with the pushchair. And albeit lots of times, I’m just in my skinny leggings and trainers; there are many occasions where I want to look stylish whilst at it. Click through for my tips to get walking enough every day (and which footwear I swear by for on-the-go in the city).

Why do I love walking so much? Well other than the sheer pride of walking down the street with my baby boy in his pram; since putting it to test on a daily basis, I have realised just how fit I have become! I mean, I walk everywhere now, and more than often I power walk – be it for a spin around the park, running errands (oh em gee – so many errands needed with a baby!), or out and about in town. I have also been getting a lot of questions about my post-natal fitness routine, and other than some weekly yoga, I still swear by walking as the main reason for shedding my baby weight. In the past, walking was simply a means to end; but if you just make it part of your daily routine and start setting goals (I use various apps to track my steps/calories/floors etc.), it quickly becomes quite addictive. Best part about it? It’s free, reduces carbon emissions, helps to reconnect you with your surroundings, clears your head, and sets you up for the day. I also use it as an opportunity to catch up on all my favourite Podcasts, which is something I never have time to do when at home any longer. So I guess my walks have kind of become my daily (and much needed) ‘Me Time’.

Now that I’ve covered why walking is my number one fitness at the moment – I would like to share with you how I style it, and the versatile trainers from FitFlop I have been wearing non-stop for the past few weeks, for both casual and play. They’re so good, that I just clicked through a pair in dark grey as well (super chic, and perhaps even more versatile). Anyways, I’m so in the mood for Spring and colour at the moment, and these nude blush slip-on’s are just perfect. I love how easy and soft they are to wear, with the criss-crossed laces, the stretchy, super soft and breathable knitted fabric. Not to mention, they’re ultra comfortable, with the signature full-flex and cushioned midsoles – meaning that when I’m out for the day with Rio, my feet aren’t killing me, and I’m always able to walk for much longer.

Of course, there are many other trainers that do the job in terms of comfort, but not many that I would want to wear with this kind of outfit. And now that Spring is (hopefully) just around the corner, I need shoes that are easy, lightweight, look good and most importantly, feel good to wear. Happy walking!

That’s a nice dress! Love your blog and style. Have you watched the documentary ”The true cost”? I can really reccomend it since it made at least me reconsider my shopping need a little and reflect over if I really need everything I buy since it has such a big impact on the world environment and the people who work with this etc. It’s very interesting.
    Have a good week!
