FRAGRANCE COMBINING WITH JO MALONE LONDON

FRAGRANCE COMBINING WITH JO MALONE LONDON

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of working with one of my favourite British fragrance brands, Jo Malone London. Being a Londoner for nearly 8 years now, I find myself fiercely loyal to local, heritage brands – and Jo Malone is no exception. It epitomises all things British – class, tradition, consistency (a very British trait), yet with constant innovation… One of their latest campaign launches, is the power of Fragrance Combining. I mean, it totally makes sense; why wouldn’t you want to mix two of your favourite scents together? The best of both worlds.

So after checking into Claridges for the night, I went straight to the gorgeous Jo Malone London Townhouse, for my one-to-one Fragrance Combining session. I like a lot of different scents – which I quickly discovered during my consultation – although I had a few things I didn’t like; which was overly floral (mainly rose) and overly heavy fragrances.

I did however mention that I loved musky and masculine scents, as well as lighter and fresher combinations. And together, we created the perfect combination on the first try (I´m an easy customer to please, apparently!) – pairing the Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne – mixed with Dark Amber & Ginger Lily Cologne.

The combination is just incredible, and one of the most unique scents I have come across. With so many different elements; with the hint of fresh sea salt, mixed with the woody earthiness of sage – aligned with rich amber and black orchid, and calming and sensual black cardamom, ginger and water lily… The dream.

After the Fragrance Combining, we got ready for a very special dinner hosted by Poppy Delevingne, at the Jo Malone London Townhouse. However tempting it was to stay late and enjoy the magical evening, I made sure to get my beauty sleep ahead of next day´s shoot – which was dressing up in reference to the fragrances we had chosen… I was so excited!

The set was a dreamy affair (I mean, can this not be my living room situation every day?!). In terms of my outfit, I wanted something fresh, loose and light, mixed with some edgy accessorising. Naturally, it was love at first sight with this pale blue silk kimono – and as I mentioned in this previous outfit post, I am all about layering at the moment, in often unconventional ways; with dresses (and robes in this instance) over jeans – mixing super feminine elements, with more casual and edgy pieces, such as denim and leather.

Paired with some killer Manolo´s – it summed up that feeling I got from my two chosen scents; elegant, fresh, relaxed and earthy (true to my style).
