Living in a big and bustling city takes the toll on your body and mind. Although I can´t imagine living without it right at this moment, the need to escape on a sporadic basis, is always there… So when Poppy and I combined felt the need to take a 24-hour break from it all (that´s all it sometimes takes), we jumped on the train down to the Cotswolds and checked into our own little cottage at the beautiful Daylesford Farm…
We stayed at the The Wood Store – which was gorgeously countryfied – with all the amenities we could ask for – a fireplace, wooden beams, brick walls, comfy beds and sofas, an AGA, dreamy bathrooms filled with Daylesford´s organic skincare brand, Bamford… What more do you want?
Daylesford Farm is such a great set up. All in one place, they have their renowned Farmshop filled to the brim with healthy food, juices, organic wine and cheese, as well as their super cute café, cooking school, florist, spa… All within a 1-minute walk from our cottage. Perfect.
It was pretty cold when we arrived on the first day, so following our lunch at the café, I huddled up in my in my warm shearling coat, biker boots and wolly hat while continuing to explore the grounds.
In the afternoon, we tottered over to the gorgeous Haybarn Spa (which is a must-visit in itself, even just for a spa day), where we completely rejuvenated and relaxed in their retreat rooms, followed by a deep-tissue massage.
Beautiful skies on our late afternoon walk around the grounds and surrounding fields.
We picked up some delicious and homemade soups from The Farmshop – I had the Spiced Pumpkin with Lentils & Spinach (so delicious), followed by some organic Rosé in front of the fire. London sure seemed a long way away already.
After spending nearly 30 minutes getting it going, I had an early night, falling asleep to the sounds of a roaring fire.
I woke up early the next day to glorious skies, bright sunshine and frost… Although is was freezing, I managed to get my gear on and headed out for an early morning run along the fields. What better way to start the morning!
Followed by 1 1/2 hour of meditative morning yoga!
I was pretty hungry after the morning activities – so we picked up some fresh organic eggs, porridge, bread, avocado, fruit and coconut yoghurt for a brunch feast!
Saying goodbye ain´t easy… But we left feeling so re-charged and energised – ready to enter the Big Smoke again.
Thank you to Daylesford, Bamford and Angel Publicity for hosting us.
