DRESSING THE BUMP #1 | BREEZY CHIC

DRESSING THE BUMP #1 | BREEZY CHIC

As so many of my readers seems to be interested in maternity style and curious to see how I am currently styling up the pregnancy – I thought I would do a little mini style series for you this July! So every week this month I will be sharing a different styled up look and shape that could work with a growing bump. This week it´s all about the loose-fitting, breezy and all-black chic outfit – which I so often tend to go for anyways; and even more so now that I am nearly 27 weeks pregnant…

Don´t get me wrong, it´s not like I am intentionally trying to hide the bump with loose-fitting clothing; however it´s not every day that I feel like wearing something bodycon or bump-enhancing. And to be fair, I have never been one for bodycon dressing either ways; so this look is something I would still 100% wear if I was not pregnant (always a good starting point). And for a lot of the time during my pregnancy, I have actually just been wearing what I usually wear – with a few simple size adjustments. As its my first pregnancy, I had no idea what or how best to dress the bump, other then just simply sticking with my natural instinct of what feels comfortable and what – most importantly – still feels like me.

And this outfit, as I am sure you can agree – is very typically my style. You all know that I never stray far away from an an-black outfit – teamed with some luxe and unique accessories, to elevate an otherwise simple and minimal look. Another key piece in this outfit, is the oversized black blazer – which is the ideal style to both pull a look together (smarten it up), as well as slim the overall silhouette. This blazer was the perfect match together with this oversized and frilly loose black dress – creating a feminine, stylish and understated look (perfect for day-to-night dressing).

…Oh, and how perfect are these mules by the way? The ideal heel height, style and shape for what I am looking for right now (not to mention how I adore the combination of the feminine bow, mixed with the edgy black leather).

Now don´t get we wrong, I am not finding it very easy to dress at the moment, and have certainly had my fair share of hit-and-miss outfits throughout the pregnancy so far. But ultimately, my best tip to anyone else who is pregnant or is planning on it, is to continue to stick and gravitate to shapes, colours and overall looks that you know you have both felt and looked good in pre-pregnancy – then with some simple size adjustments (in non-maternity styles I can easily go up 2-3 dress sizes) and investing in some simple and classic maternity styles (such as this dress) – you’re more or less good to go.
