I mean, we all know the struggle, let´s face it. With social media constantly switched on, where we spend hours of mindless scrolling getting our daily Instagram fix on our evening commute from work, checking in on Facebook right before we go to bed, stalking all our favourite celebs on Snapchat, or receiving endless Twitter notifications pop-ups (note to self: turn these alerts OFF!). And if it´s not social media, it´s TV. Which again, can act as the biggest escapism after a long day working in the office, where you most likely don´t have a lot of energy to converse or use much brainpower… In comes the trashy reality shows, which sure enough, numbs our brains into jelly. Sounds harsh, but I am pretty sure I am hitting some core home truths here… Don´t worry – WE ALL DO IT. Or at least, sometimes/most of the time. Hopefully, many of us still have that little voice at the back, reminding us to REALLY switch off by banning all social media and TV during some parts of your evening, and spending some much needed quality ´me time`. Read on for how I have personally struggled as a full-time blogger and digital influencer to navigate this balance, and some of my top tips and daily reminders to keep me motivated.
You know how the most of do an annual spring cleaning in our house? Well it´s just as important to do it with your skin as well! With winter winding down, and living through months of constant indoor heating, on top of bitter cold weather – our skin is left feeling parched, dehydrated and aged. With spring comes a new lease of life, with sunshine, humidity, and more time spent outdoors; it´s a time for rejuvenation, growth and a time to pamper. But unlike a regular spring clean with an instant overhaul and clear out; when it comes to your face and complexion, it´s all about the preparation in advance and slowly switching your skincare routine, to not create any unnecessary stresses or aggravators. So please click through, for my top 3 steps towards a healthy and glowing complexion, along with some skincare favourites for spring.
I have spoken a bit about natural skincare before on the blog, and why I love it so much – but I haven´t really delved into what specific products and brands I love, and why I continue to keep natural and mainly organic beauty brands as part of my daily skincare routine, balanced out with more active (non-natural and organic) ingredients…
This post has been long awaited (and requested). I get a lot of e-mails and comments about all different things; career tips, how to become a blogger, interior questions, beauty and lifestyle recommendations, fashion tips and tricks, or any more personal queries… So I thought it made sense to start off with a bi-monthly series on the blog – where I will answer all of your questions, all at the same time!
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of working with one of my favourite British fragrance brands, Jo Malone London. Being a Londoner for nearly 8 years now, I find myself fiercely loyal to local, heritage brands – and Jo Malone is no exception. It epitomises all things British – class, tradition, consistency (a very British trait), yet with constant innovation… One of their latest campaign launches, is the power of Fragrance Combining. I mean, it totally makes sense; why wouldn’t you want to mix two of your favourite scents together? The best of both worlds.
I´m pretty minimal when it comes to my make-up look. It´s a combination of my love for the ´less is more` look, laziness/lack of time, and wanting to maintain really clear skin (without clogging it up with layers of make-up). Gone are the days of caking on the bronzer and mascara, but luckily I´ve never really worn much foundation. After reaching 30, I have never been more skin confident, and I know this has a lot to do with me finally knowing what make-up look really suits me, and what products work for my complexion. I also have a pretty quick make-up routine – which I´ve perfected, meaning it takes me less than 5 minutes to do. The products below are all part of my everyday go-to look, and come evening, I just add some lippy or eyeshadow – but the basics always stay the same.
Ok, I know I keep saying it every time, but seriously – where is this year going?! How is it already end of March? 2017 is just flying away… But I for one am more than ready for Spring. It´s my favourite season by far. Gone are the days of wanting it too hot and balmy (as in, I wouldn’t complain with a few of those days right about now) – but Spring has that refreshing air of newness. We start ditching the layers, bare a bit more skin, and have that constant air of curiosity for the new season…
If there is one thing I want to spend my money on, it´s my skin. I´d sacrifice the latest fashion purchase in favour of an incredible facial at one of my favourite spots, any day. I am pretty religious with having monthly facials; having that consistency and regular up keep has really transformed my complexion. Sure, squeeze in a few weekly face masks at home on top of this; but you will see the real difference when you´re in the hands of a trusted and reputable skin esthetician…
How is it nearly March already? 2017 is going far too quick for my liking (although I´m loving the sudden burst of the warmer, spring weather). Needless to say, I am still firmly rooted within my darker and more tonal colour palette, but I am getting pretty excited for all the fresh colours that are hitting the stores! But for now, here are the classic (and tonal) pieces that I am loving, as well my latest beauty must-have´s, and other favourite trinkets…
Hands up if your skin has been all over the place recently, dehydrated and lacklustre? I am pretty sure you’re not alone on this. The months leading up to Christmas was indulgent and hectic, and January and February has seen interchangeable weather conditions, with minus degrees, rain, harsh winds and drying indoor heating… In other words, no wonder our skin is crying for some help. It‘s thirsty! You might also find you´re suffering from dehydrated and tired skin, due to lack of sleep, your diet, or internal hormonal imbalances (or just a bit of everything) – whatever it is, the good news is you can reverse it and get it back to where it was. Fast track it today with these 5 simple beauty tips, to regain that subtle, smooth skin, and happy body…
Quite controversially, I actually prefer my skin during the winter. Of course, I´m sure I look a lot cuter with a sun kissed glow and complementing tresses… But with the summer months, comes dark spots and pigmentation, and a more uneven skin tone (or is this just me?!). When it comes to my skin´s actual texture, overall feel and look, it´s always so much smoother and clearer during the winter months. That´s not to say that I do nothing to it; quite the contrary – winter is the time where I really ramp up the skincare ingredients with lots of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Retinol, scrubs, serums, SPF (still SO important) and ultra rich and hydrating moisturisers and masks.
I mean, where has this month gone? In my last post, I was talking about how I have personally been easing into 2017 more gently and with ease. And I am planning on continuing to do so in the coming months! Gone are the days of constant stress an worrying; I am genuinely taking it so much slower than ever (and my body and mind is loving it). …and here are some other bits I have been loving this past month!
Micellar water is one of of my go-to beauty must-haves, for so many reasons… But first up; if you you’re not already addicted, or you’ve never used it before – let me give you a little low-down on what is is, why I love it, all the different ways of using it (other than a part of your cleansing routine) + the products I am loving right now.
December. Officially the most cozy month of the year (FACT). Needless to say, there has been a slight overload in consumption this month; with presents galore, and grabbing some good bargains during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales + some early discount have already started (can you believe that Net-a-Porter has 50% on?! Go go go). Anyways, back to the point of this post… My favourites throughout the month!
It’s the 3rd December, and the countdown has officially begun until Christmas (aka the BEST time of the year). I am super festive at the moment, and totally lapping up the freezing cold weather, morning frost, festive food and christmas shopping. I tend to do a lot of my Christmas shopping online (the one thing I don’t love about this time of year, is the hectic shops!), and have already been rounding up my fair of share of presents for family and friends over the net. If you haven’t already started buying your pressies yet, or you’re still in need of some more gift ideas for your loved ones – I’ve collated all my go-to buys; from the ultimate gift sets, favourite perfumes and scented candles, jewellery, quirky interior additions, and other must-have fashion and beauty buys – for this year’s annual Christmas 2016 Gift Guide.
…So it´s Friday. But not just any old´Friday. It´s THE Friday: Black Friday. The biggest shopping day of the year; for good reason. The discounts are crazy! But instead of sifting through and searching for all the sales yourself; I´ve laid them all out for you in this blog post (categorised and all) – with all my personal favourites.
Anyone else feeling super festive? I know I am. I love November as its the first month where you can actually start thinking and preparing for the festive season (which naturally makes me very happy). It´s a nice chill in the air, and I am loving getting my winter wardrobe in check, switching my skincare for the colder months, and aquiring some essential additions for the coming months… Here are this month´s favourites.
