BB CREAM

BB CREAM

For the past few months I have been testing out the above BB creams from La Roche-Posay & Vichy…

BB creams haven’t been on the market for that long – in fact they only debuted in Europe in 2011 (following huge success in the Asian market). But what is a BB cream? Originally referred to as Blemish/Beauty Balms; its a moisturiser with SPF protection which gives you sheer coverage (a thinner version of a tinted moisturiser) and also works as a make-up primer; so, several products made into one bottle basically! No wonder they’ve become so popular!

I was eager to try and after a few recommendations, I fell on these two, which are also very purse friendly (always a bonus).

La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Creme

I am a big fan of this brand to start with, and their BB Creme didn’t disappoint! It does exactly what is says on the tin – perfect for sensitive skin, super lightweight (one of the ingredients is thermal spring water), conditions the skin and provides solid coverage (it even works pretty well as a concealer), as well as a make-up primer. The only thing I would say, and its not neccessarily a negative; I did find it very light (although I opted for the Medium shade) which unfortunately didn’t work very well on my tanned skin during the summer months –  I would imagine it would work much better on more fair skin.

Other than that, I was super happy with the quality and general feel. Buy it here.

Vichy Idealia BB Cream

Firstly this one was better suited to my tanned skin, which straight away was a plus. Again, the feel, scent and general coverage of this BB cream was excellent. It also covered any sun/dark spots – which was great during the summer months when they tend to appear! It was also really illuminating and gave my skin that extra glow. During the day I have been using it as a replacement for my foundation and during the evening, I have been using it a primer for make-up. Its lightweight, non-oily and super moisturising!

For me, this one worked better due to the colour match. Buy it here.

Seen below using the BB creams as a make-up primer.
