Freedom to me means so many different things. But on a more materialistic level – being in an environment where I don’t have to wear shoes and can wander aimlessly barefoot, in no make-up and loose-fitted clothing, is definitely when I feel free, and at my happiest… I love London, and I would not be without it. But sometimes, it feels so great to be able to escape to somewhere remotely contrasting, where time feels like it´s standing still, and where it´s so quiet that the only sound you can hear, comes from the ocean… And my recent escape to the Maldives, was just that perfect peace.
My holiday attire mainly consists of loose, lightweight dresses, shirts, tops, skirts – all in silk, cotton and linen. Clothes which breath and are comfortable, yet also makes me feel good. I love nothing more than throwing on a silky tunic dress, which is so easily worn both at day, over your swimwear – as well as evening time when you still want to look special. Finding those unique pieces which are transitional and versatile from day to night, isn’t always the easiest – but when I first do, I like to invest in several styles that I can wear for years to come. Like this stunning made-to-order silk tunic dress from London based luxury silk scarves brand, Leonor, which has quickly become one of the most special pieces I own. I mean – just look at it.
I wore this tunic dress throughout the holiday, as well as some of these oversized scarves come evening time, when there was a bit of nip in the air. I love injecting more colour on my holidays, and investing in classic yet vibrant prints and colours, are the perfect components for vacation style.
And for once, I really limited my packing on this holiday. I never end up wearing even half of what´s in my suitcase, so this time, I only brought a few of these tunic dresses, simple cotton tops, a pair of denim shorts, a few skirts and some classic sandals (although, as I said, I was barefoot just about the whole time); then I just kept mixing and matching the different components together. Simplicity and paired back wardrobe essentials on holiday, are always, the best.
