BACK TO BLACK AT LFW

BACK TO BLACK AT LFW

I know – I was all about embracing some lightness and colour just the other week, but let´s face it – black is classic. It´s chic. It´s edgy. And you can still totally play around within an all-black colour palette; just mix up different textures, such as lace, fur (faux, obviously), leather, suede, cotton – and be even more adventurous with the various styles, shapes and cuts. Who said black was boring? Point example being in one of my favourite looks from London Fashion Week…

Mixing textures and shapes I did – with the cropped broderie lace top, boxy faux fur coat, suede heels, oversized cotton pants and miniature top-handle bag – elevating this all-black look, into fusion of elegant edge (my favourite combo).

…I means, sleeves of DREAMS. Too bad it was a bit too chilly the first few days of LFW, to show them off properly (I was mostly huddled up underneath the dreamiest cropped faux fur jacket).

LFW was great fun this year actually! I missed out on it last season, with the very valid excuse of being far too busy lapping up the sunshine in the Maldives (I mean, I would swap LFW for the beach any old day…). I definitely go through phases with LFW; from the fleeting anxiety and stresses of what to wear, the pressure of what tickets I get through (always a last minute thing) – not to mention, the expectation and anticipation to show up to as much as possible. Or at least it used to be like this. I definitely felt an air or change this season; what with social media, video and live streaming from all the shows – no longer making it so exclusive to attend in real person (although, a ticket to Burberry won´t ever go amiss).

I am not usually one for showing off much skin; certainly not my stomach (cropped tops have never been my thing since the early teens) – but with these high waisted and relatively masculine, oversized trousers – I felt like I could subtly get away with that tiny hint of skin…

The cropped top does make the difference, very elegant Anneli!
I find oversized pants difficult to wear but showing a bit of skin does seem the smartest way to go about it.
    Have a great week!
