AUTUMN DAYS WITH RIO

AUTUMN DAYS WITH RIO

I’m not saying I’m happy that summer has come to an end, however there’s big part of me that is super excited about it being autumn; a new season, that exciting feeling of newness all around, and most importantly, more cozy times with my favourite little chap. Summer was so hot for the both of us (not so fun when you’re stuck in a steaming city with no breeze), so I think it’s fair to say that the slightly cooler autumn season is going to be just perfect. Be it snuggled up at home, or crisp strolls around our neighbourhood…

Other things that really excite me about a new season, is the opportunity to start planning a new wardrobe. Which for once, is no longer just for me, but for little Rio! So I’m pretty excited to have teamed up with Matalan to showcase my favourite looks and pieces for Autumn with you guys – for both mummy and baby.

I have to admit, I’m way more excited about shopping for Rio than myself – there’s just so much cute stuff for baby boys! I love putting together little outfits for him, he just looks so darn adorable in everything. Ever since he was a tiny baba, I’ve been obsessed with rompers on Rio, and this gorgeous lion dungarees & t-shirt set is the perfect style; super soft and easy to pop on and off (always an essential), and blue has always been my favourite colour on him. Teamed with even more hues of blue, with a classic navy knitted cardigan (the perfect transitional piece from summer to autumn), and these super cute little denim hi-tops… I literally cannot handle the cuteness of this outfit!

Comfort has always been my number one priority since becoming a mummy – which translates into super soft and easy clothing – which look good at the same time. As September is still proving pretty warm, I’m still wearing skirts from time to time, and I love this super easy A-line check style, which I’ve teamed with the softest slogan hoodie ever, and the perfect white lace up trainers. I love the combination of the more ladylike check skirt, together with the casual hoodie and trainers; it’s easy to wear (when I’m on the run), yet feminine and sporty, which I love.

Days at home with Rio, are always the best. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun being out and about; Rio is so curious and always seems to love the adventure, along with the fresh air – but nothing beats having some quality time at home, where Rio has more than enough space to discover, explore and play with things (unfortunately he’s going through a stage of being way more interested in our stuff, then his own toys!). We read books, play in his play pen and his latest favourite is climbing the stairs (with me right behind him, watching his every move of course). Although it can get a bit stressful around breakables and things that might hurt him, I also think it’s important that he gets to discover and explore different textures and functions (not just his plastic toys!), so for now, we’re letting him roam around the house (whilst watching his every move).

Cozy days at home calls for comfortable clothes, and the lion dungarees & t-shirt set is probably my favourite outfit on him right now. You all know I’m the queen of comfort, and when I’m just at home with Rio, I love wearing chunky knits and super soft jeans. This multi-coloured stripe texture jumper is my new favourite; it’s so lovely to wear, yet it’s also such a great statement knit for Autumn. I’ve teamed it with the softest high waisted black jeans, which are both casual and edgy, with the ripped knees and sculptured fit. I’m always the happiest when I’m in my jeans and jumpers, so this is pretty much my ideal outfit combo!

    Hi Anneli,

Another great post thank you very much. As our babies are a very similar age- Scarlett is going to be 1 on October, 8 I was wondering if you going to do a post on Rio’s 1st Birthday Gift ideas? I am brainstorming at the moment:)

    Thanks

I have a baby boy of the same age, but unfortunately, there are much more stunning outfits for girls than for boys. Love his knitted sweater.

I think there’s more choice for girls in general, but I think there’s lots of lovely pieces for boys too! :)
