A YEAR ON: UPDATED HOME TOUR, PART 2

A YEAR ON: UPDATED HOME TOUR, PART 2

Following on from Part 1 one of my updated tour, I am super excited to share with you the rest of the house – with the remaining of the first floor, with my walk-in-wardrobe, and moving up to the second floor, with another two more bedrooms and a bathroom. To shortly recap from the first post, I decided to do this updated tour, following on from the original Before & After Home Tour I posted shortly after we’d just renovated – as after living here for nearly 5 years, things have naturally changed slightly and the home just feels a lot more lived in and well, homely. Hope you think so too!

First things first, my walk-in-wardrobe – AKA one of the 5 bedrooms, which I (strategically) made into my own wardrobe, as not surprisingly, I needed the space! There has never been enough wardrobe space for the both of us in any of our previous properties, so to save on arguments and fighting over the space, we jointly decided that I could have my own room, which has been a total life saver (and no more extra hanging rails in the bedroom!).

I absolutely love this room – where half of the wardrobe is open and on display, and the rest of my wardrobe is at the back behind my floor-to-ceiling cupboards, where I conveniently store my summer/winter wardrobe + my blog shop stock…

The good thing about having everything on show, is that you’re kind of forced to keep it really organised and tidy, as well as categorised. So as well as having it all colour and print co-ordinated, everything is also within it’s category, with either shirts, blouses, bottoms, dresses, etc. Making it a lot easier to dress every day! Then half the shoes are on display – the heels and boots (also colour co-ordinated), and the rest are within easy and convenient pull-out-drawers – my trainers, flats, sandals.

My bag system is a combination of stacked and hung, which works for now (but I’ll no doubt be running out of space pretty soon and will have to re-think this particular system)…

My necklaces are hung on the wall and the rest of my jewellery is all placed in handy glass display cases in the middle of the room…

Wardrobe solution is a mixture of IKEA and custom made wardrobes (at the back).

So now that we’re done with the first floor, let’s move on up to the second floor, which is what I call the ‘guest area’ – as it’s not a floor we really utilise, unless we have guests visiting.

What I love the most about moving up to the top floor landing, is the bright light up here. With the super high ceilings and double sky light windows, it’s probably the lightest space of the house, which also really helps brighten all the floors below with it streaming all the way down…

This is the only room in the entire house which we didn’t really touch. As the top floor extension had recently been done when we moved in, including the bathroom – the latter of which was really neutral, we decided to leave the bathroom as it was (for now, anyways!). We spruced it up slightly and then just accessorised it with matching neutral elements.

Jo Malone products (of course).

Moving onto one of the two bedrooms on this floor, which is decorated in a cool and calming colour scheme of white, navy and grey – with some additions of ethnical style prints, different textures such as wool, velvet, brass, wood, metal and cotton…

Again, both these two top rooms are super light, which is reflected with lots of airy and bright accessories and elements throughout…

Tiger Hangers

As this is just a guest room, we didn’t want to crowd the room with a big wardrobe, so I got a white wooden coat hanger with some neutral hangers as a simple, yet effective hanging solution.

T.K Maxx Mirror
eBay Chest-of-Drawers

Always some pops of green in most of our rooms, with the plants and then this great cacti print, which just adds that extra element of colour to this room.

Love mixing textures, yet keeping everything relatively tonal and clean in terms of the overall colour palette.

Again, lots of cool colours – with grey, cream and white – with the additions of wood and brass elements (sensing a repeat pattern here perhaps?!). I am a total creature of habit, and I love nothing more than creating different feels in each room – yet still keeping that red thread and continuity throughout, so it just flows.

I have a lot of love for this French-style Loaf bedroom set – which has come with us in our last three properties – with it’s weathered oak, and upholstered in a natural and neutral material… It just blends in within any style of room I feel (hence why we have kept it for so many years!). Point example being this Moroccan style wedding blanket, with the sequins and fringes, which easily works with the more antique and traditional French elements, and the nautical and classic stripes – as the overall colour palette and feel has been kept tonal.

Again, some different textures here – with the straw, wood, glass, brass, mirror and wool…

Always adding some elements of personality and fun to the shelves (even if it’s really neutral and white).

…and that’s it for now, hope you enjoyed the updated home tour. Stay tuned for my next interior post – with my nursery reveal!

Please leave me a comment with any questions you might have, or if you’re wondering where certain things are from – as not everything has been credited in the post. However lots of the original credits of the flooring, paint colours etc, are on the original Home Tour – so be sure to check that out too.

Such a beautiful house! We’ve just installed an ikea pax wardrobe in our spare room. I’ve been wondering where to put my handbags though and you’ve just given me inspo to hook them on the outside – what hooks have you used? Did you just drill them in? Thanks.

Thanks so much Davina! Ah I just used some simple ones I found from a local hardware store – the trick is getting them really sturdy, and really long, so you can hang multiple bags on them :) And yes, just drilled them in. Ax

Hi! You have a beautiful home. Are you able to provide any more detail on your grey carpet?
