A LONG-WEEKEND IN YUCATAN

After five glorious days in the relaxing and bohemian Tulum – we headed off to our second destination of our holiday – to the beautiful Merida in the Yucatan region, and Hacienda Temozon. 

A hacienda is the Spanish word for an estate with a huge amount of land; and now in modern times is often used for events, hotels and in our case, a wedding celebration. The journey to Merida from Tulum took around 4 hours, so we decided to break it up by stopping by one of the seven wonders of the world, Chichen Itza; the ancient Mayan ruins.

We loved learning more about the magical Mayan culture and history, before heading towards our final destination, Hacienda Temozon.

After checking in to this incredibly historic and beautiful hotel estate (to say we were blown away, would be an understatement) – we explored the vast grounds and buildings, enjoyed an afternoon swim by the pool, followed by local dinner and drinks.

The following days were spent relaxing by the beautiful pool area, eating, swimming and reading – all what a holiday is supposed to be about, really.

The eve before the wedding, we headed into Merida for rooftop cocktails and dancing with all the guests – so magical! I was wearing one of my favourite new lace dresses from Karen Millen´s new Atelier collection, together with my go-to evening clutch from YSL – teaming it together with these killer high street heels from Next (such a bargain!).

Finding summer outfits in the height of November was not an easy task, luckily I was recommended online luxury beachwear destination, Beach Cafe (which is now on 70% sale!) – where I picked up so many pretty bikinis, kaftans and dresses – including this super chic dress…

Early evenings spent in our private plunge pool in the jungle… It doesn’t get much better than this!

Wearing my first ever swimsuit, and I´m in love! This one´s from British brand Lilliput & Felix and is a winner; the shape is perfect, and I love the fact that you can wear it in so many different ways (I´m a sucker for multi-use pieces).

Our wedding outfits (unintentionally coordinating with shades of blue…). Dressing for a wedding on a scorching hot summer´s day was not an easy task, and although it was very tempting to wear something lighter with no sleeves; there was no chance I was going to miss the opportunity wearing this sparkly number.
