BABY DIARIES #7 | THIRD TRIMESTER UPDATES

October 7, 2017
baby-1 (1 of 2)

I am not going to lie, the third trimester has not been the easiest. Or, let me re-phrase that just a little bit – the last few weeks have not been the easiest. And it’s hard not to just focus on that, when I am in the middle of what is in my opinion, the hardest part of the pregnancy. I say ‘hard’ – as I am just days away from giving birth (hopefully just day, and not weeks – but who knows), and never have I felt so strange, swollen, sore, tender, heavy… Suddenly my bump has reached it’s maximum limit and space, and day-to-day things such as walking, breathing, sleeping, are becoming increasingly harder. When all of that said, I am of course so happy and positive as well – as I know I will soon be meeting my precious one, and we will finally be a family.

BABY DIARIES #6 | OUR JOURNEY WITH HYPNOBIRTHING

September 23, 2017
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Years and years ago, way before we had even started to think about having children – I was always so incredibly petrified by the thought of giving birth, the unknown, the excruciating pain – you know, everything we thought we knew about childbirth from watching various blockbuster movies and T.V… Fast forward 10 years, and I am weeks away from giving birth, and I am actually feeling incredibly excited, elated, empowered, and most importantly, so calm. And much of this, is thanks to my recent Hypnobirthing course, which has completely transformed my current state, and frame of mind (and certainly my idea of childbirth!). Continue Reading

BABY DIARIES #5 | MY ESSENTIAL SHOPPING LIST

September 6, 2017
babydiaries (1 of 13)

I remember a few weeks after announcing my pregnancy, a few of my friends and various acquaintances started sending me all these ‘must-have’ shopping lists for the impending arrival of our baby. I mean, some of the lists were serious Excel spreadsheets, categorised and colour coded, with over 100 (!) items on them. To say I started to get slightly overwhelmed at this stage, would be a minor understatement (however grateful I was with the kind thought behind of providing me with this list). But I soon got on top of it, and managed to narrow it down, pinpointing my own essentials that would work for us…   Continue Reading

BABY DIARIES #4 | HOW TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY DIET DURING PREGNANCY

August 25, 2017
baby (1 of 5)

A lot of you guys have been asking me about my diet during my pregnancy. I was always very curious to see what my cravings would be, if I had start to introduce specific food groups such as dairy or meat (which are not usually part of my diet) to support the pregnancy, and just in general; what types of foods one should be having to stay healthy (with the occasional treats of course!). If you read my last Baby Diaries post, you would know that I was recently diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, which has meant that I’ve really had to alter my diet with a low sugar, low carb, high protein diet. The good thing is I will be super healthy for my baba – the annoying part (which is obviously very insignificant); no more treats for me! Fortunately, I have had the pleasure of teaming up with top London Clinical Nutritionist, Kamilla Schaffner, to guide me a long the way, and has also collated all her top tips for a healthy and wholesome pregnancy, as well as how to manage a low sugar diet if you happen to have Gestational Diabetes (or if you’re just looking to cut out sugar in general).

BABY DIARIES #3 | WHY I’M GOING SUGAR-FREE IN THE THIRD TRIMESTER

August 3, 2017
baby (7 of 7)

Whoever said pregnancy was easy? I know I for one have had my fair share of ups and downs (as you might have already gathered!). But in general, since discovering we were finally pregnant (and minus the standard first three months with tiredness and sickness) – I have absolutely loved the pregnancy so far! Sure, I have had a bad back, sleep hasn’t been the easiest, the struggles with getting used to your ever-changing body shape, declining cardio levels and constantly feeling like a baking hot oven… But who cares? I literally cannot wipe the smile off my face, and just feel so incredibly lucky to be carrying a healthy baby boy. But then as with most pregnancy and it’s many (many) curveballs – I had a bit of shock news a few weeks back… Continue Reading

BABY DIARIES #2 | SECOND & THIRD TRIMESTER, SELF-CARE & WELLBEING

July 15, 2017
IMG_6132

This pregnancy is going by so fast, I can’t believe I am 7 months already, with only 12 weeks to go! Although we cannot wait to meet our little man this Autumn, and feeling so desperate to cuddle and touch his little face and body – I am personally finding it all a tiny bit daunting… I guess it’s the unknown, and all those question marks. Do I have everything for the labour, for the nursery, for the house? Car seat, pram, enough clothes, will I be able to breastfeed, how will I know what he wants? Luckily I am a firm believer in trusting your own instinct, and I am pretty sure the strong mother’s instinct will help guide me along the way, if I ever feel a bit lost and overwhelmed (which I am sure I will)… But for now I am going to run you through the remaining of my 2nd trimester and the unknown of moving into the 3rd trimester.

So after checking in with you guys and hearing what you want to see and read more of here on the blog (via this survey) – it turns out that over half of the people who did respond, is very interested in maternity related content! So with that, I am going to give it a go. But for the other half who are not so keen; don´t fret, there will still be lots of fashion (turns out that is your number 1 category, according to the survey), beauty (number 2), interior (number 3) and travel + wellness (4 & 5). So let´s get to it, the first of my monthly Baby Diaries! I am 6 months pregnant already (I still can´t believe how fast it´s going) – so I have to play a bit of catch up in my first diary post. MUMMY DIARIES: THE 12 MONTH UPDATE

November 9, 2018
IMG_3316

I know I keep saying this every single update, but I really can’t fathom how fast this year has gone! This time last year Rio was only 3 weeks old, and I was in a total bubble of love and bliss (running on adrenalin), yet a degree of pain (breastfeeding/Mastitis), and totally overwhelmed. I now look back at this time and can truly say that, despite the discomfort I was in, it was probably the happiest I have ever been in my life – and if I could turn back time to this little bubble I was in with Rio, I would. That’s not to say I’m not happy now, but that precious time right in the beginning, was incredibly magical. So much has changed these past 12 months, and there’s been a lot of ups and downs, tests and trials every single day, and most notably, I have grown and developed more than I thought I would (in a good way). This is the last update for now (I might check in at 18 months, and will no doubt be covering certain subjects as well – make sure you e-mail or leave a comment with your requests!). So here goes, Rio and mummy at just gone 12 months.  Continue Reading

MUMMY DIARIES: THE 10/11 MONTH UPDATE

September 20, 2018
Processed with VSCO with v6 preset

Another two months has gone by, so again I decided it would be easier to compile month 10 and 11 together this time as well. I mean, since Rio’s been on the move, I feel like I haven’t sat down to rest for weeks and weeks! It’s been so full on, with days and months going into one another, and I can safely say that I’ve never been this tired in my life. Not just mentally, but physically, as Rio’s such a big boy. Don’t get me wrong, I love that he’s so solid, strong and healthy – but it’s been pretty heavy and strenuous for me (especially with him going through the most intense separation anxiety for the past few months). When that said, these past few months have been so much more fun and rewarding! Yes, even though it’s been a quite tiring with the constant clinginess – it’s still pretty amazing that he now fully knows who I am, and although he’s a super active and boisterous boy, it’s been so much fun seeing him develop at such speed. So read on for all the various updates, news and any advice I’ll be sharing from the past few months – including his new routine, a sleep update, some breastfeeding news, a typical meal plan for Rio, his favourite toys and activities, including some personal wellness updates which are making all the difference to my health…

MUMMY DIARIES: THE 8/9 MONTH UPDATE

July 30, 2018
Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

A lot has happened in these last two months, so much so, that I simply didn’t have the time to write Rio’s 8-month update several weeks ago, so I decided to compile month 8 and 9 together. And boy, has there been some major developments during this time, with Rio advancing in leaps and bounds… He can now crawl, pull himself up and stand, he claps, waves, gives kisses (kind of), has nearly 6 teeth, and is a little chatter box (not talking yet, of course, just a lot of ‘baby talking’!). As for me, I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of motherhood and have definitely become more relaxed, which has a lot to do with several recent ‘out of routine’ holidays! I’m generally feeling better and getting stronger, although I’ve still got a few issues which I’m working on getting sorted – but all in all, things are pretty good! Read on for all of our updates, developments and general motherhood bits and bobs…  Continue Reading

It’s just crazy how fast time flies. I now understand why so many fellow mama’s kept warning me to cherish every second, as they grow up so quickly! MUMMY DIARIES: THE 6-MONTH UPDATE

April 12, 2018
Facetune_11-03-2018-16-43-33

I can’t believe my baby boy is 6-months today. I know they say time flies when you have children, but seriously – where has the time gone?! It genuinely doesn’t feel like six months since I went into the hospital… In so many ways I feel like everything is happening way to fast, and he’s growing up too quickly. Then on the other hand, I’m just loving seeing Rio developing. I feel like every single day that goes by, he’s getting more alert and curious, and it truly is the most rewarding feeling in the world. So scroll down if you want to read about Rio’s updated routine, sleep update, first weeks of weaning, my journey with breastfeeding, what activities he’s been enjoying now that he’s a bit older, and lastly, how I’m finding time for myself…

MUMMY DIARIES: THE 4/5-MONTH UPDATE

March 1, 2018
IMG_3633

I can’t believe I’m writing this, and Rio is nearly 5 months old in just a few weeks. It still feels like yesterday, when he was as light as a feather, I was a walking zombie (gladly, no more), and everything was all so new and exciting/exhausting/surreal… So much has changed since my last update, when Rio was just over 3 months. Not only has he nearly doubled in size, but he’s really developed into a proper little person with a proper personality! My routine has also changed and evolved, the sleep situation is better, and now that he’s older, there are more fun ways to play and activities we can do together! And finally, after months of trying and testing – I have summarised what baby essentials and brands we can’t live without…  Continue Reading

MUMMY DIARIES: THE 3-MONTH UPDATE

January 25, 2018
rio-1 (1 of 1)

I can’t believe how fast time has flown by, and that Rio is now 15 weeks already… I’ve been getting a lot of requests to share more about motherhood with Rio – my schedule, sleep, activity, etc. So I thought I would give you guys a little insight into what I’ve been doing, what’s worked/what hasn’t worked, and why I decided to create a routine with him already at 7 weeks….

MY BIRTH STORY

January 9, 2018
rio (26 of 28)

I know a lot of you have been curious about my labour and what happened in the end… Especially as I had been sharing so much with you all in the lead up to everything – via my Baby Diaries series, and not to mention, my journey with Hypnobirthing and our birthing preferences. I say ‘preferences’ instead of ‘plan’ – as I was fully aware that things don’t always happen the way you want it to – yet, I was never quite prepared for how extreme that would be in the end, with it taking over 50 hours from start to finish…  Continue Reading

KIND OF BACK

January 18, 2018
IMG_1564

So it’s over 3 months since I became a mummy, and I’m finally getting back into the swing of things. I am by no means working full time (at all), but every now and again (when he sleeps, basically) – and I don’t have mounds of washing to do (which is a rarity!), and catching up on some general life/house/Rio admin – I try to make some time to stay creative. Be it write a bit, shoot some new bits, reply to some e-mails. Nothing major, but just keeping my foot slightly still in the game. But also, my foot firmly off the pedal, as I am still making the most out of this precious newborn bubble…

AUGUST MOOD

August 11, 2017
cec52d3c023ed7b6c1d904c27e644de8

I have mixed feelings towards August… For one, it’s the first month which is leading towards Autumn, which on the one hand means a new season, new beginnings… But then on the other hand, it also means summer is soon over. For once, the latter doesn’t bother me so much, as I am still finding myself wishing the time away for our baby to arrive and to start so many new beginnings. Yet, I am still holding on to that summer feeling, and already finding myself dreaming about my summer wardrobe next year (when my body will be very different then what it is now). So I have compiled a little mood board for you guys, to show you all the things which is inspiring me right now, from fashion, hair, interior, food and general mood.  Continue Reading
