So we’re officially 9 months (and 11 days) pregnant today (yes, who knew pregnancy is actually 10 months long!), and it’s only just now where I both mentally and physically, am so ready to have this baby. Not only are we naturally super excited to meet the little one and see how he looks like after all of this time of waiting – but my body is really feeling it too, with the extra weight, constant tiredness, sluggishness and aching body. When that said, I have absolutely loved being pregnant, and loved seeing my growing bump week by week. So much so that I wanted to capture our 9 months of pregnancy, in one of our favourite spots in the U.K…
The location is Bushy Park (great name, right?!), one of the five royal parks in London, and which just happens to be right on our doorstep. This park was one of the many things that lured us to this area, as it truly is such a magical spot in London, which ironically makes you feel like you’re nowhere near London – with hundreds of deer just casually trotting along, ponds, wildlife, and so much peace and quiet. The park is huge with so many different and unique areas – yet wherever you are in it, you always feel like you’re in the most secluded and magical spot, miles away from any signs of hectic city life…
Sam and I have spent a lot of time in this park together, and it’s been such an important place for us during so many different stages these last two years of our lives… Not only is it where we have our weekly regular Sunday escape; but it’s also been a spot we have spent many ups and downs. It was especially a prevalent and important place for us, during our long journey to conceiving, and acted as real meditative and reflective space for us to escape to. Then in contrast, it’s also been somewhere where we’ve spent a lot of time in (especially myself), now that we’re finally pregnant! So naturally, it was the ideal spot for us to shoot this very special time of our lives together, capturing the full 9 months…
We’re so blissfully happy, it’s hard to even put words into the immense excitement and anticipation we are feeling right now. Alongside feeling slightly nervous and anxious too, not really knowing what to expect and how it’s all going to go… But as we have been practicing Hypnobirthing for the past few months (cannot recommend this enough), we’re definitely feeling a lot calmer and more relaxed about what’s to come.
Not surprisingly, we have everything we need in place (both being the super organised freaks that we are) – with the nursery just about done, the hospital bags packed, car seat fixed in, and all the clothes, accessories, toys, feeding and sleeping aids we think we’ll need (and thanking god for Amazon Prime for anything else we might have forgotten).
The future is exciting, unknown and however challenging it may be; having such a strong and solid partner by my side – my husband, best friend and ultimate team mate – I know it will be an adventure of a lifetime. And I am so excited to continue this journey and very important next chapter of our lives, with all of you guys too! Thanks for sticking around these last few months.
A very special thank you to the talented photographer Ioana Nicolae – who captured these special moments for us.
