3 WAYS TO STYLE A STATEMENT WINTER COAT WITH JAEGER

3 WAYS TO STYLE A STATEMENT WINTER COAT WITH JAEGER

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that coats and jackets are my thing, throughout all the seasons. I love how with the simple addition of a coat, biker, blazer, denim jacket, puffa  – you can simply pull together any look; be it for the purpose of looking smart, edgy, formal, casual (or for the more practical reasons of keeping yourself nice and toasty!). Needless to say, I have conjured up my fair share of coats and jackets over the years; so much so that I have an entire floor-to-ceiling wardrobe housing all my precious outerwear (oops). And I am particularly excited about my latest addition from Jaeger, one of my go-to British brands. You all know my look is pretty classic, low-key and minimal, often in muted colours and simple lines. However, I am also a big fan of jazzing things up via a few statement pieces or accessories, to elevate my otherwise clean style; either through colour or prints. So when I spotted this dream of a fluro pink coat from Jaeger´s new Après Ski collection – it was pretty much LOVE at first sight.

…but who says Après Ski-style is just for the slopes? The collection is inspired by the classic 60s, with bold shapes and colour blocking (no snow necessary). Here are my 3 favourite looks so far…

#1 LOOK:
ON-THE-GO

A bright pink/red jacket might initially seem like a difficult colour to style, especially when it´s a coat, such a prominent piece of your outfit. But I have absolutely loved wearing it so far. Not only is this bright colour the perfect shade of a reddish pink; I adore the feminine cocoon shape with the cropped arms, crafted in super soft virgin wool and sharp black buttons. It actually makes me happy every time I wear it, and I don´t think I´ve ever received so many compliments for a coat before!

When I´m running around in town; be it for meetings, errands or catching up with friends – and I want to be comfortable, yet still look smart, my go-to components are always a pair of pants and a chic knitted jumper. These cropped kick-flares are the perfect style, and teamed with some loafers and a classic navy knit; the overall look is easy and relaxed (just the way I like it). The addition of the statement coat, elevates the entire outfit, making it much more feminine and soft.

#2 LOOK:
WEEKENDING

The weekend. Sartorially, my favourite time of the week. I am true creature of comfort, and I love being comfortable – especially when it comes to what I´m wearing. Hence why I pretty much tend to live in jeans near enough every day (or if joggers were accepted, I would probably wear that!). When it comes to the winter, I am all about chunky and cozy knits. So consequently, my winter weekend look is pretty much the same (I told you I was a creature of comfort).

Come Saturday and Sunday, I swap my kick-flare pants for my kick-flare jeans, add on a pair of comfortable trainers, cozy hat and classic black cross-body bag, and I am set to go. Super comfy, yet still presentable! Win win. One of my favourite things to do? Go for a long walk along the river, and head over to my favourite café in Richmond for a Soy Latte and brunch time. A weekend must.

#3 LOOK:
CITY CHIC

Be it to the office, or dinner and drinks – mastering that day-to-night city chic look, ain’t necessarily a piece of cake. The key is to really identify some core wardrobe staples – such as silk tops and shirts, tailored pants or smart jeans, classic black boots, and luxe accessories. Keeping the basis of the outfit classic and smart, enables you to add that ´wow` factor with a killer statement coat – the cherry on top.

Once you’ve created the perfect neutral outfit; it makes it so much easier to play around with colours and prints – such as matching this coat with a leopard clutch. Making this the ultimate day-to-night look – without looking too casual, or too dressed up. In other words; the exact level I like to be at.
